Ap not working

ok so my my AP has been great up until now. The dongle that plugs into the cars OBD connector isnt responding. its not the usb cord because when i plug the actual AP into my laptop it works fine. I bought the AP from cobb a little short of a year ago, but i dont have the receipt anymore, but shouldnt i be able to give them the bar code number off of the unit and they can look up the transaction? There is no physical damage to the dongle so I know thats not an issue. anyone have any ideas? Travis from cobb are you out there???

Try taking your car to autozone and tell them you want to try to read an engine diagnostic code. They should do it for free. If their code reader can't connect to your OBD than that should tell you its your port and not the cable. If it works, then you at least know that something must have happened to your cable.

I had the same problem with my AP, it is the Dongler. I spoke with Cobb and they said if it works on your PC but not the car it is for sure the Dongler. You may be able to get it under warranty. If not they sell replacement ones for $80. I would give them a call and give them the vin number on the back, you may still be under warranty.

Did you purchase the unit from COBB Tuning HQ? If so we probably have your information in the system so that shouldn't be too much of an issue if you don't have a receipt. Usually when this happens, it is the dongle that is at fault, especially if the AccessPORT will not power up when plugged into the car. It should power-up once plugged in, even with the car off. If it is powering up, but not connecting, there is another issue. Usually these sorts of issues can be solved with a firmware update.

fair enough... i sent it to cobb and they fixed the dongle and it has been working perfect ever since. cobb is the besr(nana)

lol i havnt been back yet! Im still waiting on my reworked turbo from pg to arrive. that and i have brakes and rotors to go on so as soon as thats all on ill be heading back down. for right now i just drive smart and work on some exterior mods like the mazdaspeed hood vinyls. next on the list is coilovers after a good tune.

i think ill hit a tad higher i hope. who knows. all i know is that whatever numerical value it has is irrelevant because I think it hauls serious ass anyway.(naughty)
