Anything we can do to get more traction?

Hey guys. I was wondering, is there anything we can do, aside from stickier tires, to get better traction off of the line? Any mods we could do to help launch harder? I know the AWR mounts will decrease wheelhop, but I'm talking less tire spin. Thanks a lot.

Hehe, yeah I know, I don't drop it at all. I feather it out, and at about 3k rpms. Just wondering if there are any mods to let me put my right foot all the way down a little earlier. And damn, I can't stop looking at that sig.

i rather have wheel spin that the horrible wheel hop....i just drop the clutch at 3k and lemme spin til they get grip....last time i raced a buddy and i just guned it i had the most awful wheel hop in the world....he could hear it plus the guys two blocks away that were watchin us......i just wanted to hide (peep)

Yeah, the "biggest mod" is to pick up that fat chick at the bar and have her drive with you. It might not be great for 1/4 mile times but you definitely will have that a-"traction". LOL.

Without spending money you can take your tire pressure down. i wouldn't ride around like this but if your going out to the strip take your pressure down a little at a time until you find a good balance. When you leave reinflate your tires. Doesn't cost anything and works wonders. For anyone that doesn't know letting the air out makes a bigger footprint for your tire giving it more area to grip with.

On the flipside, you reduce it too much, and you decrease the tire footprint.. since it bows in, and you get the majority of the contact on the outside...

But really, all you can do is to get better tires, and motor mounts...

Motor mounts and larger rims would be a good start!

wider, not larger.
Larger just increases rotational mass, and will slow you down in the long run. ;)

Im looking at getting a set of FD RX7 wheels as my race tires.
16x8, lighter than my stock wheels, and hold 245s for drag radials.
Plus they look awesome.

whoa that has gotta be the worst pic ive ever seen dude, what camera did u use to snap that? looks like an abominable snowman pic

but wouldnt stiffer rear springs mess with the handling of the car? One day I was talking about the insane wheel hop i got and he said stiffer rear springs would help, but I figured it would hurt handling.

Use tires with a sidewall that is not as stiff..Stiffen the rear susp. with either blocks or springs..motor mounts will help wheel hop..You can also install sitffer bushings in the front susp for better geometry..Tires will play a big part and our stock tires are about as bad as they come for drag racing.

will the fit, heard 8 inch or 245 would not fit msp

just dont slam ur car on them lol i predict goo amount of rim stickin out....i plan to grab 300z or rx7 wheels also

I don't know about you all, but my MSP pitches noticeably front to rear when I romp it (or rear to front when I slam the brakes). Obviously, the pitching indicates a quick weight transfer. I'm agreeing with the others that it's a spring issue, but it could also be an issue with the struts. I'm not exactly a suspension expert. I do know that it seems to be about the moment I get the weight transfer off the front end that the tires go up in smoke. I'll be putting stiffer springs in down the road. Gonna get some mileage out of these first.
Anyone else notice this weight transfer happening? The chassis setup seems plenty stiff side to side, but it may not be enough front to back for good fwd traction.
