Ok so basically I need to know about fog light information.

I want to make sure the dealer isn't trying to screw my GF.

She has a 2005 Mazda6 s in SPORT trim (not GT, so if you have the Grand Touring it might be different)

anyway when she bought the car October last year it came from the dealer with fog lights in the bumper and a CAI.

Well after about 3 months one of the lights went out and I took it in and they replaced it, and about a month after that both lights went out, I took it in and THEN they had the nerve to tell me at that time (not before) that the fog lights aren't "factory" so they can't/won't fix anything

Anyway after much calling and fighting I got the car in today to be fixed. they told me her car didn't come with foglights in the bumper from factory and that she only has fog lights in the headlamp unit.

I didn't understand that, cause even when I look on the cars on the showroom floor they have that little "fog light" switch (like in the MS6 or a Mazda6 with fog light sin the bumer" that allows you to turn it on and off

None of them that had that seemed to actually have fog lights in the head unit, they were all in the bumper.

Well I'm trying to figure out if they were just trying to **** her over and didn't want to get her parts to fix the bottom fog lights

(the wiring harness melted but they did fix the fog lights in her headlamps, if those are supposed to even be there)

So I need to know, does the Mazda6 actually have the option to have fog lights in the head lamps, and not in the bumper?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm. Well I have a Mazda 6 GT, 2006. and after some time i got the car I was wondering why i have so many bulbs in my head unit. appears, that mazda was producing 6 with fog lights IN HEAD UNIT ( NOT IN BUMPER) until, i don't remember which year, probably 2004 - 2005. After that mazda put fog lights in the bumper, and put BLANKS in the head unit. So for example I have blanks in head unit, and fog lights in bumper. While a 2004 car will have fog lights in head unit AND NOTHING in bumper.
So i say, if you have fog lights in both places :))) someone installed cool fog lights in the bumper by themself :) ANd that is the reason probably why harness melted.

The fog lights are built into the head light assembly on the 2005 S. Looking at them you'll see four lenses, one is low beams, one is high beams, one is your blinker and the other are the fog lights, second one in from the center I believe. They cast shorter then all other beams are are pretty effective for where they are placed on the car.

Mazda does offer aftermarket/optional foglights that can be placed in the bumper. In the front of the car, you essentially have three lower grills, the ones off to the left and right can be popped out and replaced with this option. From what I've seen it is an exact fit replacement of this side grill, it just features fog lights built into the center of them. I would imagine but am not certain that if installed by a Mazda dealer they should be covered under warranty etc etc ... but if its aftermarket fluff I wouldn't hold your breath.

Yeah what I was trying to find out is that if the guy who owned the car before her (he traded it back in to get a 2007 Mazda6) had had that Mazda dealer install bumper fogs and they were just trying to **** her over by not having to warrant it. In any case I've found some after market and found out from MY dealer they can install fog light part.... we'll just go the cheaper route unless they warrant the bumper fogs...... but probably not.

Thanks for the hope though guys....
