Anyone street tune using the CP-E

when do you guys think this will be for sale and how much? im buying something wihtin 2 weeks.

I don't know, but I'll get you an answer as I'm curious myself (lol2)

The last I heard it was basically finished, and we were about to start testing it. I think Lou wanted to get the first unit done before PRI. But I'll see if I can get another update.

sigh...more options lol....as if thats a bad thing. Thanks for making my buying process a more diffricult one...you suck!
Please inform the boards asap once you find out more info.

wassup jordan...its philip from california....i didnt send my standback back... i follow laloosh foot step adjusted fuel on the tuning software and the hiccup issus seem to be gone.....dont know if u read the whole topic....how weird and how it doesnt make sense....

Hey sir, from CP-E. Nice to see you join.

I started this post, because I wanted to see how many have street tuned their car using this piggy back. What I got was a whole off topic discussion, that I didn't want. Althought I didn't want an off topic posts to be made, it's good that this thread had a little bit of everything from wideband discussion to someone posting screen shots of the software, for all to see the adjustmens. I learned allot.

My question to you is, What features will the final version include and when will it be available. In addition, if I were to buy the unit before the final verstion is released, is the unit updateable through my computer or does it have to be sent back.

Thanks

I'm more familiar with tuning using the DiobloSport unit on the Dodge Chargers And Magnums. The unit allows 45 minutes of logging any six sensors or you can opt for laptop data logging and log up to 20 sensors with your laptop recording the info.

I have to see what the LM16 kit is. Sounds like a worth while investment..

As I understand WOT tuning is less important on a turbo car than part throttle tuning. Is this true?

Since you claim to know how to tune, would you mind making a how to and sticky it? Many people would appreciate it.

EDIT: As for detecting knock, what device should be used?

Making a sticky to tune is a pain in the ass because every system is completely different. When i get the new standback thats coming out, i will post some how to's as i get familiar with the system.

I tune for WOT with a Wideband. Boosted cars should be tuned this way because you want to stop any possible detonation from occuring, whether it may be tip in detonation or through the powerband. Tuning for part throttle is less important since youre not going to be in boost and notice anything. You can tune for part throttle but you need to pay attention to parameter changes and test the results at WOT because youre usually removing fuel for part throttle tuning to smooth the powerband out.

As far as knock detection, since all ive used are noisey modular ford motors, ive never used a device. Infact, my lightning had stock knock sensors install from Ford, but they are disconnected from the factory if that tells you anything, lol. A friend of my with a Buick GNX swears by his knock sensor setup. I forget the company's box he uses, but it pulls timing out and records the knock history. I dont know if you will be able to wire this sort of setup into the Mazda ECU though.

Im familar with Diablosport and know Patrick personally. Although their system works well in the diesel world, their Ford gasoline stuff left a bad taste in my mouth. I went with SCT software and never been happier. Boosted applications are much different than naturally aspirated, so keep that in mind when you hear people tuning part throttle.

I meant a sticky, for the CP-E piggy back unit.
CP-E should do the write up. It would promote sales.

When the COBB comes out, I will try to get them to make a how-to for the install, and maybe a how-to for the custom maps/tuning feature.

I know about tuning the Charger. It's a great tool. It data logs, and has tuning featues. Log, tune, log, tune some more, and log again to keep your sled safe.

I would like to see some good tuning for this car before I buy a unit for ~$800.

Till then, a manual boost controller and a BCD set to 17 PSI is a nice, reliable and cheap upgrade. :D

it would be nice if cp-e released some more info on the piggback, right now the only support u have is by calling them
i wouldnt mind there being some sort of documentation, kinda like if u do this in theory it should affect this
would make tuning a little easier

if you bought the unit, its in the instruction they explain everything and how to tune it. Pretty simple and straight forward.

other than those instructions, a little in depth would be nice
those instructions are really basic, not too friendly to a newb
