Anyone have the 21.5 AWR rear sway bar on an MP3?

Has anyone done this? I have the MP3 rear bar and I'am getting sick of the clunk. Also, I would like to upgrade the rear suspension with this bar. Do you think it's worth it? I already have the end links, so all I would need would be the bar, and the lower mounts. Should I buy it or not?

Thanks,

Patrick

I have one on my P5, and it clunks too. The endlinks are actually the culprit, but there IS a clunk back there now. :(

hey pat,

how hard was it to install the front mp3 sway bar? i might be getting the full msp suspension coming my way, so i was wondering if i should look out for anything. changing those struts are gonna be a b****.

The front sway bar is more trouble than it's worth. imo
It does'nt do all that much for the car. It helps, but not as much as I thought. As a matter of fact AWR Racing does'nt even use the front bar at all in thier race cars. They just stiffen up the front struts a little more.
As far as the struts, you should not have too much trouble. Time consuming, but not that difficult.

Let us know how everything goes.

got me on this one pat???? is the awr sway thicker than the mp3 sway? but if you get the awr sway, i got dibs on the mp3 one. ;)

thanks pat!

that's all i needed to know. all i got to do now is wait for the race season to be over so hondatomazda can finish up with his suspension setup and get me his old parts. anyone ever meet this guy? he lives in TO, same as steph, but i don't think they've ever met.

if you find out who stole your identity, we can send a posse after them. for reals. rolling up hard on their ass with about 20 proteges. oh man, he'd be shitting his pants for sure!

Hey Mike,
Yes the AWR is larger than the MP3 one.
the mp3 is 20mm, and the AWR is 21.5.

Not sure if the 1.5mm will be noticeable.
The rear bar is yours Mike, if I buy the AWR.

Patrick

don't mess with me. i know where you live. i know i can't take any of your wheels off cause you use about 50 different lug nuts, but i'll take out the valve stem and steal your rubbers!:p besides, you already have the JIC suspension, what do you need the msp one for?

thats a hard one because 1.5mm isnt two much...
pat, was there a difference from the 19mm awr to the 20mm mp3 bar?
because thats only 1mm...if there was than i would say that the extra 1.5mm difference from the mp3 -21.5mm awr would be felt...right???that would only make sence

let's start a "patrick's posse" thread and see how many people are down to beat some ass then go for a nice drive in the canyons. it'll be fun. we can even have some of the hwy. 9 guys come down.

You know, now that you mention it, there was a difference from the 19mm to 20mm. So, I just might have to risk it and buy the bar.:D

Maybe I could use the old MP3 bar to beat in the heads of the f#ckers who jacked my identity. lol

Thanks for your input mike.

Ha ha ha ha ha, Natey has the clunk now too.

sorry Natey, just had to say it after you giving me crap about not clunking and all :p

Let's go join Patrick's posse. he he

EDIT: wooo woooo 500th post. (woowoo)

If you want to get rid of your clunk you have to peroiodically remove the endlinks. Cleaning the bearing assemblies at the end s is going to be very important to keep it quiet. I had this on my last sedan. It is a great bar once you learn how to adjust it. I think you have the right setup Patrick. However energy suspesion makes some generic bushing for sways that have lubable bushing. I was just about to experiment with this when I sold my car.

I have bent the brackets to somewhat match the shape of ours. Yet I have no car to put them on now. These bushings are twice the width. Hey Nate I might give these to you to experiment since I no longer have the bar When are you going to be here?
