Anyone have experience with BF Goodrich KDW 2s?

Alright fellas, needing a little help here. I aget my 18x8.5" svn's back from the powdercoater this week (magnesium blue :) ) and I've been planning for months on getting BF Goodrich KDW 2's. I basically just need people to chime in who have owned these tires. My questions are about the size, and not the quality as I know these are a top tier tire.

My question is, are these one of the tires that run bigger than the size that they are listed or are they actual size? Like for intstance, I know some brand of tires you get in a 225/40 actually turn out to be more like 235/40 instead. Are these one of those tires? The reason I ask is, I had a set of 235/40/18 nexen n3000's mounted on my 18x8.5" +48 SVN's with 5mm spacers bumping the offset to +43 effectively, and I have rear fenders with a medium roll, and bc coils maxed in the rear, and I was having a veryyyyyyyyyy slight rub on the tire. I am a perfectionist and this really drives me up the wall. So my plan for the new KDW's was to either get them in 225/40 or possibly a 215/40. I've heard the KDW's don't stretch due to the stiff sidewall, which is good, because I don't want a crazy looking tire. But, I don't want to go with 225's just to be rubbing again the same as those 235 nexen's were. At this time, I am leaning more towards the 215/40's than I am the 225's. But if I can get the 225's to fit without rubbing, then I will be alot more happier with those. I have an aggressive looking stance going, so it's ok if I need to go with the 215's. I have seen a picture of a set of 215/40/18' kdw2's on a set of 8.5" wheels, and they did not look stretched at all. They looked normal to me?

If anyone can provide some insight, I would gladly appreciate it.

Never owned them, but would highly discourage 215/40/18 on an 8.5" rim. I can almost guarantee that any tire manufacturer would advise against it as well. It's going to be hard to compare, because 225/40/18 is going to have a shorter overall radius in addition to the reduced section width.

BTW, why are you running spacers? Are you rubbing along the inner edge? If not, you might consider removing them as many owners are running that size at +48.

I had KDW-2's on my Neon-SRT4. Pretty good grip until they wear down about 1/2 way. Noise goes up as they wear too. Good on dry pavement, mediocre in the wet weather. Tirerack would have scads of reviews on them and you can filter down the reviews to select the tire type, the car make/model, etc. to drill down to the actual reviews on the same car, or a similar size/weight vehicle. Give that a shot.

Thanks man, but I am lookin more for the size of the tire than I am the review. I've been looking at getting these tires for years, so I know all about them! Just trying to figure out what I can get to fit or not without rubbing.

I put spacers because of the look, not because of rubbing issues. I prefer the more aggressive stance.

On the tire manufacturer's site, it says that a 215 is the minimum width they recommend on an 8.5" wheel, so I don't see how they would advise against it?

My bad - somehow I had referenced the stock sidewall width range.

Why not go with the same size and remove your spacers if they rub? Otherwise you could get a rear camber kit and dial in your settings. Not many people physically measure their tires, but you could always call their tech line and ask.

I have these tires on my 09 speed3 and I am running 235/40/18. I'm at stock height and no fender roll I have no rubbing issues whatsoever. But if I have to fairly large people in the back I do rub. And they run just like they say not smaller or larger hope this helps.

That does help man, thanks!

I prefer not to remove the spacers because the wheels have a more sunken look to them without the spacers, even though 5mm is not a big difference. I love the flush look...the picture up top is with the spacers on. I absolutely love the look. Boy this is a hard choice of going with a small tire or going with larger, but removing the spacer and having a slightly more sunken in look.

Here is another question, if I do remove the spacers, should I go back with a 235/40 tire or go down to a 225/40 tire?
