or 200 pairs of shoes...and yes i have dated a couple girls that had a couple hundred pairs of shoes

my wife's problem is furniture, draperies, and other fine home items. She justifies it by saying we "both" get to use them.

I, for one, am ecstatic about our new sconces.

My personal hell plays HGTV 24/7.

I agree with you my wife always spend money on hair styles and goes shopping for stuff. but soon as i buy something for my car she goes crazy. I say you spent money on hair does she says. you have to pay to look good then i say you have to pay to go fast. then she just walks away and say you think your funny.

roflmao! Just use her own logic right back at her... you both get to use the car. She does ride in it right. lol

My wife don't care as long as we have the funds. But her having a CX7, she wants mods too so it is give and take.

one of my friends had to buy his wife stuff for her worth the same value. my GF is so easy going about it dose not care what i spend my money on as long as i take care of my part of the bills. personaly i just use my OT for parts. whats bad is if your wife will go out and spend a couple hundred on her hair or nails and then you have to practacly bend over backwards to even take care of changing your oil.

sounds whipped to me....(pow)

Yeah I have the same problems with my wife but I can't say I really blame her. We just bought a house and money is tight, yet I still find ways to buy stuff for my car, even though i probably shouldn't be. Here's the trick though. If she goes out and spends 300 bucks on coach bags or what not, that's your opportunity to get something and to not feel bad about it at all. I personally don't spend any money on myself unless it's necessity, except for my car. So if she buys stuff for herself, that's when I pounce.

I think the main reason men have problems with this kind of stuff is simply that women just DON'T GET IT when it comes to cars. They buy a car if it looks nice and drives good and they call it a day. They don't see the point in doing anything to it because to them it already works fine. But to them going out and buying a new pair of shoes and a handbag even when they have plenty of other shoes and bags, seems reasonable to them. C'est la vie.

I'm with what another poster said about discussing any bigger purchases (usually something over $50). My wife really understands my hobby of modding cars, so she doesn't give me a hard time about it. But it's about communicating and not sneaking around in our relationship. If we've got extra money or if I can sell something to recoup the costs, then it's usually fine. Although, these days, I've been buying more than saving it seems. I gotta stop...this modding bug is getting addictive again. Just when you say, "I'll be done after this series of mods," something ALWAYS seems to come up.

Yea man it is addicting. And you'd think that after putting a mod on that you would feel satisfied for at least some length of time, but no, not for me. Once I get a new mod it's make me want to get another one right away.

Yeah I ask my wife so I don't get my balls officially cut off. She works at our bank so is really good a keeping tabs on stuff that comes out of the account.

Nope, luckily my wife puts money into my 'toy' fund every pay check and doesn't ask any questions on what I spend it on. In fact she just let me spend $2000 on a SR20 for my Datsun. I have an awesome wife.
Yes, mine is trained up like this too. She also comes with stuff like need spa thing, nails, clothes, furniture, etc etc etc. Whatever she spends is matched in my parts acct FTMFW!!!!!

wow nice! I bet you do all sorts of stuff to make her feel special for her to do that for ya!(rockon)
& vice versa...I have to be "talked into" some of her purchases too, lol.

My wife and I check with each other before any significant sums of money are spent. She is my better half and her opinion matters to me, as mine does to her.

Marriage is about partnership, teamwork and compormise.

Also look into selling some old stuff or stuff you don't need anymore on ebay or craigslist to finance part of the purchase.

If she sees that you are willing to be a little patient about it and even sell some of your old stuff, I'm guessing she would be much more supportive.
All good points & is what to look for in a possible wife BEFORE the marriage. (drinks)

how true, how true.

my gf & i don't live together, we have a beautiful arrangement. she gets to do what she wants w/ her $ and so do i. she has a 2nd mortgage, credit card bills, and closets full of never-worn, still tagged clothes & shoes. i despise bils and loooove putting away & investing $.

for those who are married, should have heeded Ben Franklin's advice: "keep your eyes wide open before marriage, half shut afterwards."

FWIW, i'd say that as far as i've seen, wimmen folk spends waaaay more money that us manly men folk, so i really don't understand what all the bitchin's about. were i unlucky enough to be married, i'd simply say: look, so far this yr you've spent xyz on clothes, hair, spas, and furniture and i spent only x on the car. quit yer bitching afore i cut off the purse strings....at which point i'd probably get relegated to the garage like a smelly old dog w/ a loose sphincter. (pow)

btw, shouldn't this thread be merged with the '**** my life' thread? i see strong similarities between the 2. (encourage
