Anyone else experience this creaking windshield??

Hey members,

For some STRANGE reason my windshield has developed some sort of "flex" creak, the sound seems to come out when the chassis flexs and its cold, it sounds like a wooden rocking chair creak if you know what I'm talking about and it doesn't do it all the time, just the last few days its starting to get progressively more freqent and it's freaking annoying the shyt out of me, and it's not coming from the dash its actually from between the windshield and the top of the dash, VERY strange. ANYONE else?

I have the EXACT SAME ISSUE with my car. (5 month old 08 MS3). I just started noticing it now that the temperatures are dropping. On warm days, the car is drum tight.

But on cold days, the windshield (or cowl or whatever) creaks like crazy, even when I'm not going over any bumps. So what is the fix again?

is it just because you're windows are shut and that everyone starts to notice it? if its hot our windows are down or AC on not that it matters

It's the cold that does it, since it's been 60 all week it went away for me so I haven't bothered calling the dealer.

hrmm mine was bad then it was all the time.

I took it to my dealer last week, took them a day to fix it. They said they needed to put more padding in between the windshield and the frame. So far no more noises coming from that area.

you're in MA right? what dealer do you use? did you get it fixed? If not I could recommend a dealer where I took mine to get it fixed already actually about a year ago from now.

Balise Mazda in West Springfield, haven't called because it hasn't been happening. Also need to find a dealer that won't mind me putting a cp-e sri on.

Just took my to the dealer as well, they fixed the creaking from my windshield. I handed them a printout of that TSB someone linked a page or so back, and after about 30 minutes of arguing with the tech that I didn't steal it and it was posted online on a public board, they fixed it under warranty.

They also fixed my creaking radio trim

Oh and it was 52 degrees out this morning. But i think it may of been related to last night too because its been colder than that this week and thats the first time I noticed it. I was out for a drive because the temps are GOOD for the turbo and I hit a pretty good size, not pothole but like uneven road service, I hate Houston Roads...and I think this may of somehow helped bring the rattle around. I am gonna wait until january and literally find every nut and bolt and clip on the car and tighten them ALLL!!!

Almost 11k on my 08.5 and it's been creaking for a while. Easier to fix it myself than remove all my mods for a dealer visit I think. But hey, I woke up to 30 degrees this morning and it was snowing last night. My car sounds like if it gets any colder my windshield is going to come off!!!

so funny i was on my way home this past weekend from a slight road trip and i heard the noise and i was like wtf...i am glad I found this thread. good info mates!

my local dealer had no problems fixing this for me. It was a bit annoying and I finally decided I would take it in, and now that its taken care of its quite nice. Super-quiet even in cold weather. Def worth having done for sure

OR...if you could have passengers you could be like..."What rattle? I don't hear it ? What ARE you talking about? No seriously I don't hear anything. This little Mazda is a well built car it has NO squeaks OR rattles...its got the build quality of an Audi by gosh!"...etc etc etc

way back when ... when I had this problem I'd take my pops for a drive going "YOU HEAR THAT!?" He'd say "No? What noise." DROVE ME CRAZY that I was the only one that could hear it. LOL

Called my dealer yesterday and the SM ordered the parts - no problem. All I did was mention the TSB/problem and she knew what it was. There have been a few cars in for the same problem and the results have been mixed. The problem comes back for some and for others the fix has lasted a while.

It seems that more members (from the other forum) feel that the TSB fix doesn't really fix the problem, but I figured since the dealership was super nice about fixing it, I might as well get it done. If it doesn't completely alleviate the rattle, maybe it'll lessen it some

this is what the forum is about, when my squeekin gets on my nerves I will be taking it to a dealer and I'll know what to tell them.
