I notice a delay when AWD kicks in, which is alarming if you're darting onto a busy street and the car delays halfway through the turn. This is one aspect in which I feel the system on the Tribute (where you can push a button and "lock in" the AWD) is superior.
There is no indicator light to tell you that the AWD is working.
The blinking yellow light of a car with skid marks behind it tells your that the TCS or DSC is working.
I usually get to see that light when I'm getting off the freeway. It's a decreasing radius turn of 270 deg and I usually take it hard. (Unless some car in front of me is going slow.)
