Raising the floor would make it uncomfortable for all other passengers other than his wife. Also, pulling up the carpet and getting the raised floor installed and getting it back together would be way more difficult than getting the pieces necessary to provide height adjustment on the passenger side.

The piece of carpet that I am talking about is held in with a couple little round plastic fasteners. Pulls right up. If that isn't true in his year, then another piece of carpet or rubber floor mat could be cut from a floor mat. I am thinking of something that just sits there. When not in use, lift it out and toss it in the back.
I'm doing it now for my wife except I didn't go as fancy. I use a two inch thick piece of very stiff hard foam cut to size.
