any skateboarders around?

hell yeah! i'm not in your area but i'm 18 and have been skatin for like 5 years now. check out the video and me and a couple friends made its in my sig

Im 19 and I still skate but i've been going at it for about 4 years now. I stopped for a year because of school like 2 years ago but Im really glad I picked up a board again. I really don't know what id spend my time doing if it wasnt for skating. Last week I was at the skatepark for the dc demo and after that we ended up going out to eat with most of the guys from the team. I was so psyched cuz devine calloway and josh kalis weren't dicks like a lot of guys out there are.

i'm in the proccess of putting my car back together but needed to look which way the battery went cuz i installed engine mount inserts (wow that was a b****) and i came across this. haha got me a lil excited.
i havn't skated since november, so thats all the clips from a while ago but its fun

when it gets warmer i figure we'll be skating more often.
but after i got my car i got involved with autox so that took time away from skating

Save yourself some injury and go pick up some sports instead. I recently got into an avulsion injury from snowboarding, I had to went through surgery and now therapy. All I have to say is the overall costs (snowboarding + therapy + surgery) and the pains thru therpy (still going at therapy) is not worth it. Am I going to quit snowboarding? Probably not, but I definetly will not be as hardcore as I used to be for sure. Now, especially summer is here, I wish I did not get injury so I can do so many things my friends are doing -- golfing, beach v-ball, basketball, tennis, etc... instead I have to sit at home working on my arm.

Go pick up golfing or something, the game will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you get good at it, it might even be somewhat useful later on in your life when you start working (you never know).

When I started skating, it used to be just a hobby for kids that were up to no good, but now it a "sport?" Must be all of the media attention and big corporate sponsors. The sad thing is, with so much money going around, everyone has a product out. It's hard to keep track of who's who because kids are jumping ship to go sign for a better deal. The great thing about skateboard getting popular like it is are all of these skateparks being built. I never had a skatepark to go to when I was younger. It wasn't until I was about 20 that I actually went to a park steadily. Now that everybodies favorite icons BAM and Tony Hawk aren't as popular anymore, the kiddies stopped going to the parks and you can skate without dodging the 7 year old rolling down the ramp with his ass on the board. Another thing is................If your scared of falling or getting hurt then don't skate. But then again, there are more people at the park wearing their sisters pants sitting on their boards then actually skating.

too funny...

and actually true...

not that i've never done the skating on the ass thing...but that was way back when i was a kid in colombia, and we used to race going down streets....it was fun, coz to get the other guy down we used to kick and punch each other, and i tnever was about winning but about how bad the crash was on the way down...

anyways...if there was anyone that could teach me some s***, i'll be up to skate again...

after quiting smoking, i feel like i have too much energy now

OG skater here as well. Still have my old Vision Jinx with the big wheels on it. That last time I used it, it was to move some heavy furniture around. lol. I won't hesitate to get back on it though. I mostly did high speed s*** on it though like launch ramps and grabbing on bus bumpers. I sure wish there were more hills down here. Wake boarding is always fun as well and landing on your ass is not as bad. Did some biking too. Still have my GT Dyno freestyle with all the gadgets. I still like to get on that every now and then just to feel pain. Although now I play a little on the safer side and do it mostly for cardio. BTW, I'm only 33 yrs. young. You're only as young as you 'think' you are. Besides, age is only a matter of mind...if you don't mind...then it doesn't matter. Think young...live longer.

It's never too late to get back into the game. I just turned 38, and I still skate as much as I can. I would say dont start at this age, as you jack your self up pretty good. My friend started at a late age, and the first drop was a disaster. Broken shoulder. But it's just like riding a bike. You never forget.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!!! Damn, why do I have to live in S. Fla. There's nothin' even close to that down here. I mean, there are skate parks but nothin' like that drop in the second pic. That would be a perfect set-up for a launch-ramp at the bottom.

I'm 34 and when my 6&7 year old boys are riding their bikes I'm out there skating with them and all their friends. I used to be sponsored 17 years ago by a local skateshop and Venture Trucks. The skatng is not at all the problem,I can still do most of the tricks I used to but it's the falling that get's you for sure.

I went back home a couple years ago and hooked up with an old skating buddy of mine and went to the local indoor skatepark. Man it sure did feel good getting on the back to back miniramp they had. All these local kids looking at me like I was Tony Hawk or something shredding it up. Felt a little too comfortable doing backside grind to shuffle fakie and clipped the coping. Straight down on my back and knocked the wind out of me for like 20 minutes. I never felt so old as I did right then. I was done for the day after that.

I hear ya. I went snowboarding over a year ago and fractured my right wrist. When I got back home I basically had to learn how to drive my car again with the cast on (manual tranny). I learned the hard way that I would miss driving my car more than I would snowboarding (or skateboarding for that matter).

**** that BMX all the way,go hit up skate parks, rails, stairs gaps, and anything else in your way!!!!

Ghettobubba: Think about what you just wrote. Why would you tell people to go out and try something even though your buddy almost died doing it? If I almost died while playing a sport or hobby and it wasn't for my career, i'd say that I was pretty much done with it. Riding a bull is hardcore.

whatever some things are drugs to people..... Like me and riding, for others its speed, and for you riding a bull is ****** gr8! But as for almost dying you do have to realise the odds of it happening while having a blast at doing what you love the most....

that's why i smoke crack and drive!!

i can die doing the two things i love most...

just because ******* while driving ain't all that exciting
