Any police officers here?

Someone that is familiar with the way radar works and it's inherent limitations and inaccuracies can use those to measure a vehicle's speed as being higher than the actual speed.
dude, thats why they give you some leeway, to account for the doppler shift and what not... they can't magically clock you going 80 when youre going 50... its not a big conspiracy by the man to **** with you

I am a dispatcher for the police department here. I know that it isn't universal policy, but locally they won't pull you for speeding unless you're doing more than 15 over or you are driving like an idiot in some form that is a blatantly obvious. Just be nice to the officer and go to court if you have to.

I've heard of things like that. I feel lucky that it doesn't happen here. I did get a ticket once for 7 mph over during one of the Police Departments enforcement projects where they cracked down in problem areas, but those projects haven't happened for years now.

well i worked for a dept out here in texas and just finished school also ... the curtisy thing to do is not give anyone a ticket if it is with in 10 mph . of the limit ..reason being .... the speedometer is never acurate and the gun is not either ...normally they are off my 5 mph the most ... we chk the guns everyday we get in the cars to make sure they are as good as possible .... but the gun nor your car are 100 % right ... if someone gives you a ticket for 3 or so mph over ...thats bs .... you had to have made them mad in some way for them to **** you like that or they could just be having a bad day ...which is not an excuse on our line of work ....

Quick questions,

You guys say about fighting for the speeding ticket, what if you were pulled over at middle of no where on your road trip to somewhere? I mean, it would require you to show up at the court of the town where you got pulled over right? If this is the case, what do you guys do about this?

Ha, then you pay the ticket unless you want to drive to that city's court. Hopefully the offense wasn't so bad as to require a court appearance. You can request a change of venue, but for a traffic ticket, that request will always be denied. Lesson, watch out for small town speed traps in the middle of nowhere.

when you get certified with radar you already know that it goes for the biggest object so if a truck is speeding past you it's obvious...also can't shoot thru chainlink fences cause it alters the speed too....only way you can alter the speed is drive the speed you want it to say by aiming for a stop sign or driving in stationary mode....trust me if caught....you will need more than tampons to stop the bleeding(yes)

cops here are fuggin nuts. today in dekalb county (near stone moutain, GA) there were 4 cops, two standing there, one in a car and one clocking people. when the one clocked someone speeding two of the officers would walk out it traffic on a 8 lane highway (4 on each side), motion for traffic to stop and motion for you to pull off to the shoulder, then its ticket time. Oh and i hope peoples were wearing the seat belt. if not tsk tsk.
