I'll rephrase it into tip format (we did this all day today... frame in the positive).
The posing should look more natural, and ideally all the people should be aligned on the same plane. Everone on the left is tipping to their left, and the ones on the right are tipping to their right, giving the picture an unnatural feeling.
Also, the baby looks like its being more "presented" than held, which also just doesn't seem... real.
No on the D60. Go with the D3100. D3000 if you must.

Sleeper, may just be my monitor, but the faces look a little shadow-y.
What was the setup? Flash or not? Looks like it was bright sunny day and shot this in the shade. If that is the case I would suggest some fill flash.

It was kind of a fluke on Nikon's part. It was put out right after the D90 and was supposed to be a cheaper alternative so it lacks a lot of things, but they released the D3000 and D3100. Both of which surpass the D60 in quality and price per features. The D3100 is a great entry camera. If you want something a little better then I still recommend the D90 or for a little more the D7000.
The D7000 is currently my object of desire.

I still don't understand the posing that you're talking about... the people on the outside are leaning into the center a bit, is that wrong?
For lighting, I used one flash on the camera, and one flash camera left. The sun was behind everyone on the left. I wanted to turn the flashes up some, but when I did I was getting nasty shadows.
What could I have done better?

I jumped the gun on the moto droid even though I heard plenty of talk about the next gen coming out. Bad enough you have to wait to upgrade every 20 months (if you don't want to pay extra fees and penalties). Especially when technology takes leaps and bounds every couple months
I'm sure the next phone I get will have 1080 video at 60hz, maybe even higher

I do the same. Waited exactly 2 years. My last phone was a LG DARE that I just replaced with this Droid. Crazy the quality you get in terms of photography out of these things. Granted very limited, it still takes a decent shot. I can just imagine what the technology will be like in another 2 years.
