Me. Almost every morning. I need to take the 8 down to the beach for some early snaps, but here's one with my P5.

Bracketed three shots for this composition but I only combined the two lighter images for that shot.

^who's up at sunrise anymore? sheesh

This was the morning after returning from Italy; I was used to getting up 6 hours earlier. I do like waking up early, but I have to admit I was no more productive with the time then I am when I stay up late...watching The Office re-runs.

it looks like it has like 20 eye balls on each eye. kinda freaks me out on how close i actually got and how detailed it came out... ewww! haha, i'll remember not to touch one.

So like I mentioned yesterday, I traveled to Italy for 10 days in May. I took many pictures in Rome and Florence but they just don't compare to the beauty of Venice. Below are some of my favorites:

Empty streets at 6:30AM. The light pours through the city like water through an open flood gate only in slow motion.

Everyone has flowers in the window, but this one was unique with the vine and rust stains on the stucco. You can see a few of the yellow bricks on the right. They appear randomly and are unlike any clay I've seen used for bricks.

Rear detail of a gondola. Most were clearly made using modern crafting techniques, but this one showed evidence of being worked by hand.

All boats maintain no-wake speeds around gondolas...except for the ambulance. Gondoliers have no option but to turn into the wake as fast as they can. This picture was taken 10 minutes before sundown.

Taking the vaporetto to the airport for an early flight. The color was amazing coming through the humid sea air.

Great set. Vibrant colors, properly exposed, nicely framed. European architecture blows away anything I can find in the United States. Food is better, too :)

And Venice seems to distill those most beautiful elements into a potent liquor that saturates the senses like no other city I have ever been in, including Rome and Florence.

Food was good, but I really miss the cappuccino...only thing I have found to come close is the Starbucks Short Cappuccino which isn't even on the in-store menu board.

Thanks too, Altspace, for the kind words.

i spent a few months last year going to school in a little tuscan hill town. i totally miss the cappuccinos and when i got back tried every cap. in town trying to find one close to the real thing. if you have a diedrich's up where your at you gotta try thiers, its by far the closest thing to real i can find. and works liek a charm. keeps me pumped with energy for hours and hours.

Uh, no Diedrich's around here. There's only 7 in the whole world, in fact...I just looked them up. Bummer.
