Any photographers in here?

That's kinda cool. What is it, an old barn?

In my 'hood there's an alley that runs the 6 block length of the neighborhood and for some reason there's a building that goes over the alley in one spot and there's a loading bay under there and it's really dark so the light stays on all the time. It's really old and run down and makes for some awesome HDR's with the peeling paint and crumbling walls and such. I'll upload a picture of the actual place later on.

I'm actually going to do a session with my car under that overarching building. It's gonna be kick ass.

those are some nice shots man

yeah no crappy cell pics there took them with my new dslr...still learning how to get the most out of it

I like how you're exploring different framings and angles with your photography. Take a look at the "rule of thirds" and if you can, make a mental picture to overlay what you see in the view finder. Eventually, you'll be able to place your subject(s) natually so the photos flow a lot better. Keep it up and I can't wait to see your photography to continue to improve!

In the FLA dude. Its looking like I'll be going to flight school in Vero Beach, so I won't be too far from ya once I move down here. Would you all believe me if I told you I was a dumbass and FORGOT my camera at home when I came down here. I've passed up so many good shots (including the Space Shuttle on the pad when I was at Kennedy) because I didn't have the beast with me?

Arrrgh

Here's a quick time lapse test that I made. I used a scientific graphing calculator as the intervalometer so I didn't have to dish out 200 bux for Canon's unit!!

Let me know what you guys think!

I got a remote on focalprice.com for $25 I think. it works really well for this kind of stuff. The only down side is that it doesn't have an on-off switch, so you have to keep one of the batteries out when it's not being used. It's great for time lapse or bulb exposures or just using it as a remote shutter for HDR or on a tripod.

I got the Nikon camera control software so I can control almost all the aspects of the camera from the computer via USB cord. Super fun!!

I have the control software too... it does the same stuff as the remote, but my netbook is bulkier and doesnt last as long (battery life) as my remote does.

Having the live view/exposure preview on my screen is nice though!

So with this software you could essentially sit at a laptop connected to your camera on a tripod ooking at some kind of scenery, play with exposures/filters/speed and get a realtime view of the pic-to-be on the computer?

If so, this is effing awesome

When I do my macro stuff. That is exactly what I do. I sit at another table and adjust shutter, aperture, fine tune white balance and then shoot the image without touching the camera. Only reason I move is to adjust manual focus (using lens reversal ring) and position lighting or object.

When I was shooting birds at a bird house I set the camera up and ran a long usb cord into the house and sat inside and snapped pictures. Kept the birds a lot calmer and I didnt have to stand outside with a remote.

Only drawback is that it eats battery because it is constantly communicating with the computer.

Hi

Finally after a long time of not being able to afford one I got myself a Nikon D90 with a 18-105 VR lens, going to bring that one on my trip to USA in March.

I'm thinking of getting a 70-300mm VR lens and a 50mm F/1.8 lens. Is there any other lenses that you guys would recommend to get?
