Jon. Those baseball shots looked a heck of a lot like Camden Yards... You dare defile that sacred place with that Bostonian filth!?

Just wondering as I struggle with color space and colibration in my own photography. Maybe you could provide a monitor model number and your calibration methodology to help us see how you get yuor results.

Regarding the post-processing of the skin I agree it's a little strong but may be appropriate for a given output (like canvas) or size (small web image or thumbnail).

Right now I use dual Samsung T260HD calibrated with an i1 Display 2. Pictage uses this one to calibrate. I went with the Samsung's because of the price for now. I wanted to go Mac but wanna see if apple brings out something bigger than 27" or just goto one nice Eizo 24". You may also want to see if your professional lab has an ICC profile you should use for prints as well. I know some of them do.

I'm not sure what happened on that specific picture and I agree it does look green/awful. Maybe something wasn't available in my action/script at the time I processed it. I looked at the original RAW and Full-Res JPG and it looks fine. I'll go ahead and redo it this weekend for blog resolution and see if it was just a random error, had something turned off in the action by accident, or saved with a bad ICC profile or something.

Capture the moment/memories and emotion. I do event photography and it's all about documenting the event based on what the client is looking for. Not sure of the details of your event, but in my case, I consult with the client and show them what I mean by the above. Often times the client doesn't know what they don't know in terms of how the event should be photographed.

I live by my tag line of my business...."Let me capture the memories, while you enjoy the moment"

My approach and clients' wishes vary depending on wheather I'm shooting a graduation, birthday party or a corporate event or company outing.

Yup..

1. use your selective focus and play with dof. People like that sorta thing. it looks artsy

2. go ahead of time to scout the place out

3. watch people...even if you're talkin to someone..pay attention to everything that's going around you

4. be a ninja

5. capture the ambient as well....as in...if someone's giving a speech, don't focus all your attention on the speech giver. Watch the crowd's reactions, etc.

6. Practice your manual focusing skills. You're gonna need to do that if you can't manage your focusing points fast enough with AF.

That's all I can think of for now. I totally forgot what event you're covering.

It's harder for white people to be ninjas though. We're bigger, slower, and we will never know how to properly throw a throwing star.

Also, nun chucks are a mystery to us.
