Any photographers in here?

I have a problem that when saving for web in CS4 I dont get the exact colours as in PS.
They are somewhat darker.
No need to save for web. Just do a normal save as and bump the quality down a notch or two. When you save for web it changes the color profile and a few other things and can really screw with the picture.

Yup..so if this is like a club setting..I usually shoot:

1/6 - 1/15
F2.8 - F4
external flash and diffuser

I like to keep the slow shutter to capture movement and stuff. You'll get some nice effects w/ the lasers. YOu can even turn off the flash and shoot natural light and use the spotlights and lasers to your advantage.

Thanks man.

I think my new lens goes to f/32 from wide to zoom. YAY!

Also, I went diving this morning... we found a mustache on the boat.

what are you shooting with. if its a dslr its the lens thats limiting you too f11, not the camera body itself

dSLR like - Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50

Right now I use dual Samsung T260HD calibrated with an i1 Display 2. Pictage uses this one to calibrate. I went with the Samsung's because of the price for now. I wanted to go Mac but wanna see if apple brings out something bigger than 27" or just goto one nice Eizo 24". You may also want to see if your professional lab has an ICC profile you should use for prints as well. I know some of them do.

I'm not sure what happened on that specific picture and I agree it does look green/awful. Maybe something wasn't available in my action/script at the time I processed it. I looked at the original RAW and Full-Res JPG and it looks fine. I'll go ahead and redo it this weekend for blog resolution and see if it was just a random error, had something turned off in the action by accident, or saved with a bad ICC profile or something.

That Sammy monitor is a TN LCD panel. For optimum color rendering look for a wide gammut IPS panel. Eizo (as you mentioend) uses these as well as most of the Apple displays, including the one in the last gen 24" iMac and current gen 27" iMac. Unfortuantely, the response time, contrast ratio and production cost of IPS monitors makes them seem worse in comparison to TN monitors which is why so few manufacturers make them.

Also, I use IE 7 (at work) and it does not use embedded color profiles when displaying images. I try and drop all web images to sRGB with no embedded profiles to avoid issues. It reduces some of the quality but at least I know what the image will look like when the image is viewed.

Regarding your post processing workflow, do you have all of your adjustments in PS actions? I was initially drawn to Actions because it allowed me to be consistant with Photoshop when I was first starting. But now I find that, for the most part, global adjustment actions are a detriment to the overall quality of my work for the vary reason that they provide too few opportunities for fine tuning. Its too easy for highlights to be blown or important details to be lost in an image. What's your experience been?

A couple shots from my spring break trip to Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada. The first 2 pictures were taken with the kit 18-55 (not sharp at all which kills to use that lens when I go somewhere so beautiful) and the last 2 were taken with a 100-400 L.

I am really upset that I cut off the edge of the lake on the left side.

Yeah, I think you're at that point where you can really start exploring the realm of artistic possibility too. Try new stuff and create a new 'style' of fashion photography...
