So I went out today and stacked a Hoya ND4 filter and a Hoya CPL together. This and the above pics were the results.

Damn, they'd make some awesome backgrounds!

I'm toying with getting a camera myself, a Canon T1i, but convincing the wife is another story. :(

funky, they feel flat... did you think about upping the contrast or maybe dodging the clouds or something to bring them out a bit?

They do have kind of a nice rural feel to them with the lack of contrast, if that's what you were going for, but I think with the ND filter, a boost in contrast wouldn't be a bad thing.

that last one is awesome.

Yeah, that last one is teh win.

I have to agree with sleeper. The first one, I don't get any sense of scale with it. Is the background 100 yards away or a mile away? The other part is that a bit more contrast and even a little more saturation on either the sky or ground would make them pop a little more, and give more life to the photo.

That's just my opinion with my small knowledge of photography...

i actually like the tone and contrast. feels very rural and antiquey. i think the first one looks flat just because there is no foreground element. nothing there to lead your eye into the shot and give it more depth/context.

the second one has a lot more depth with the road, grass, and fence leading into the foreground.

Comments and critique appreciated (shady)
KDW2 distinct tire tread :)

I'm loving those pics too Funky. I think your contrast and levels are perfect. As already said, it gives that rural look to it, suits it very well.

TX- love the execution but the content is lacking. if it weren't for a bunch of car enthusiasts here, most people wouldn't find the remnants of a tire tread very interesting.

Ya I think the perspective of the photo should have been taken lower leading into some sort of content and composition in the photo.

Ya, I can see that now, and I agree...thanks for the critique everyone. I'm working on becoming a better photographer :)
