Any other spicy orange P5's?

repainting the engine bay requires dropping the engine and painting it with one layer of base coat. definitely not worth it. if you look at your engine bay, it is not the same color as the rest of your car. a black car has an engine bay that looks more like a gunmetal color. my midnight blue color lacks a few coats and a clear. minus the strut towers and the interior of the engine bay, the whole car is orange, down to the door jams and underneath all the plastic moldings in these areas.

i understand truc, but that is just like saying, well im going to buy a turbo but i cant afford the work nor do i feel like paying for guages or any other safety measures. if you cant do it right, dont do it, in my opinion. just like i made sure i could afford a clutch before i bought my turbo.

and my engine bay lacks a good couple coats and a clear coat, but at least its the same damn color...it would be a *little* different if you had mighnight blue and a black engine bay, but when you have spicy orange and midnight blue - well, it kinda looks like crap. im sure he would never get any awards from ANY serious car show...the judges would be like :wtf:

Let me ask this...does Robert plan on showing the car at any shows? I know the engine would have to be taken out to get every nook of an engine bay, but the strut towers could have been done and in my opinion the fact that they are not painted makes the paint job look like something done at economy paint with one of their $149 specials. Not very professional at all. Now, with the hood down...it is a different story. It looks good and I think would look better with a CF hood.

p.s. Thanks for the support guys, but I am not concerned with hurting the feelings of one board member with my opinion and he certainly hasn't changed my life or outlook for my car any by his childish type comments.

don't be so quick to judge... this car is an ongoing project. it is definitely not a show car right now. there's not even a stereo in the car. sooner or later the engine WILL get dropped, and since they have access to a body shop, painting the car with the engine out for mods makes a lot more sense than paying an extra $2K to drop the motor and then reinstall it completely stock only to have to take it out again later and pay for the labor AGAIN.

i can understand that, but ill believe it when i see it. thats what EVERY ricer says about their bodykit...

i think it'll be the $199 special. the door jams and hatch are painted, as well as the underhood. then when the engine bay gets painted, it'll be the $249 special.

well, i guess we'll wait and see. and i didn't know ricers waited for an engine drop to paint their body kits.

you know what i mean truc. they are always like well im waiting for such and such. i wasnt being specific in this case.

sorry, brain fart... hahaha. i get it now. it didn't make sense there for a bit. but give it time... we just got started.

hope it works out, but you need to talk to your friend cause you are a lot more friendly than he is...he acts very immature and offensive.

hahaha... sorry guys should have said something earlier, it's not robert. robert's at work. that was his wife. she's moody cause she's pregnant and in her last days of pregnancy. guess she's in a fiesty mood today. don't take it personal. you'll understand once the mrs. is pregnant. hahahaha.

The pregnancy is the easy part...Wait till the kid comes. Then ther eis much less time to work on the car and the funds start skyrocketing on diapers and formula and whatnot.

But if he (or she in this case) had said that it was still a work in progress (aren't they all?) the opinions and comments might have differed. It does make sense to do the strut towers when the engine is out, but it makes more sense to do it all at one time...Pull the engine, get it worked, while the whole car gets painted. Seems pointless to paint the car basically twice. Except to be the 1st Sspicy MP5 on the block, or on the forum.

I can change the color anytime I want to so I didnt want to paint the engine bay.
As for a show car naw I'm not to into that. I have a 2000 Civic si with custom paint job and alot of mods I would very much rather spend money on. As for being an asshole Im just having fun Roberts at work. I didn't know he was going to make a big deal.

hey now...
im sorry, but its the truth...just like guys can act like total assholes, women can act like total bitches...and then she comes on and instead of apologizing to everyone says "i didnt know he was going to get upset". well, what do you expect? i didnt CALL her a b****, i said she was ACTING like one. and sometimes the truth hurts.

when was the last time a woman apologized?

edit: let alone a woman who is PREGNANT!
