I checked with my dealer and they are still on hold with availability of TBD. Anybody got any inside info as to what's going on? I'd like to stay under warranty for now, but if they won't become available anytime soon I'm tempted to go with cpe. (sad2)

Pending CARB approval which they apparently have to go through again after releasing the intake system with the straightener in it.

If you don't live in a state where you must have a CARB sticker on all aftermarket parts, consider the CPE. It's arguably the best CAI on the market anyway.

I just went with the Protoge Garage SRI which is essentially same stuff as the other SRI setups but for less money. I haven't installed it yet but hope to do so before the week is over. Looks like a well made piece so far though.

Thanks for the info. If anyone hears that they are shipping again, please post a reply here please. Thanks! Waiting impatiently... (bang)

Good question - I would not know the answer as my state does not have CARB requirements on afermarket parts. Actually I should say as far as I know they don't.

I can say for sure there's no inspections where I live in MI and the cops don't check for that kind of stuff.

They all have carb stickers or Mazda wouldn't sell them, you might start checking out the For Sale threads you'll probably find one quicker than waiting on Mazda at this point...less $$$ too.

for peoples reference

Model Year 2007 only
EO: D-607-1

Model year 2007-2008
EO: D-607-4

Model year 2007-2009
EO: D-607-5

You must have the correct EO# for your model year car to pass smog.

Take this for what it's worth but I heard from my local dealer that they are trying to find a new supplier to make these. I personally don't buy it and the CARB approval makes a little more sense to me but who really knows?

I know a couple people who have had to call the DC in North Carolina and SHOW the dealership they are actually in stock and available and then have it ordered. For some reason the systems were never updated to show that these are available.

I just talked to a local dealership this morning and they said they are available and I could have one by the end of the week if I ordered it. There is also a shop on ebay that has 4 of them but is charging $550 each.

They told me $381. I just ordered one off ebay but it was the last one the store had. $338 with shipping so not too bad.

When I inquired about thsi with my local dealer a short while back, I seem to remember they wanted $330 for it and could have it within a week. But they said if I installed it myself, they would not honor any warranty on or related to it. I just don't want to pay them an hour or more in labor to install something this simple, so if I am going to void my warranty with an intake, I may get something aftermarket, out of principle. Maybe not. Dunno yet.

Installing this part yourself will NOT void the warranty. Your dealer is misinformed. Check this thread for more info.

Where is the sticker located? What state are you in? Is your MSCAI the first edition?

Anyone know where the sticker is located?

Is it only put on CAI sold in CA?

I live in CA, but bought my MSCAI through a shop in AZ in 6/07. As far as I can tell, there is no sticker on my CAI, but it should be CARB approved. How would I prove that it is CARB approved if that situation should ever come up?
