Anti Freeze smell

(attn) Have any of you smell some Anti-Freeze once you get out of the vehicle. Lately I've been smelling it around the raditor but have not seen any leaks or droppage of the over flow tank. Just wondering if anybody else has this problem.

Thank you,

Thank you,
I too have noticed of late a smell of antifreeze when I get out of the car. I also had a burning smell when I first had the car that was nausiating in the cabin. Had to run the car with the recirculate button for the first 2 weeks. That smell seems to have disappeared, I figured new engine burning off stuff. Now the antifreeze smell, not happy about that.

Also just got a CEL that came on today, checked to make sure my gas cap was tight...still on. Just made a service appointment for the CX 7 to check that, figured while its in there I will have the auto lock feature turned on and get the PCM reflashed to help with the turbo lag a bit.

Oh and here is the kicker, no loaner car - just paid 32k for a 3 week old car and they want me to rent one from enterprise WTF

In all the new cars I have owned, I NEVER had issues with smells - not liking it

1999 Explorer
2001 Windstar
2000 C5 corvette
2004 G35 coupe
2005 toyota tacoma
2005 Chrysler T&C

Of course the service tech will say "unable to duplicate problem" which is their standard line of BS when they cant be bothered

Dam bro sorry to hear you are having troubles hope they take care of the problem and that the dealer at least does something for you did you talk to the manager and mazda directly? Worst comes give mazda a call

You aren't supposed to get a loaner car for maintenance (i.e. oil changes, tire rotation...), but you should get a loaner for warranty work, including TSBs. If its a combo deal I would think you should still get the loaner.

Guess that it all depends on your dealership cause mine gave me a loaner since it was a TSB and under warranty even though they were also doing regular maintenance. Talk about El Cheapo!!

Let them know about the smell so we can see what they'll say. Mine is not due in for awhile since it's rare that I drive it.

I have noticed similar, bitter smell on mine. Also used to smell antifreeze on my old Mazda 6 with no apparent leak or coolant loss and was told it's normal and I never had any trouble with that car.

As long as there's no leak or slow coolant loss, I guess it's nothing to worry about but by all means, have it checked out by the dealer.

Ok I was able to force them to rent me a car from Enterprise for the CEL, which turned out to be the infamous gas cap. As for the smell, the service mgr told me it was normal for the first 3000miles or so as the car breaks in. If the problem still exists after that to come back for a look. I also got the PCM reflashed which appears to have made the low RPM lack of power less noticable. Just have to hope for the best going forward

I have over 8000 miles on mine and I can still smell the anti-freeze when shutting off the engine (no leaks however). I've smelled it since I first got it last July. I'll be mentioning it to the dealer when taking it in for my next oil change.
