antenna will not collapse

I've got a 95 mx6 with a motor antenna. One day it decided to not collapse all the way down. I figued that something is wrong with the motor or a connection with the antenna. You can hear the motor working, but nothing moves. I went to go invesgitate it, but it looks like the antenna needs to be all the way down in order to remove the motor. I've tried pulling the antenna down, but is won't budged. Am I missing something?

remove the nut at the base of the antenna mast. most likely the mast is bad and needs replacement

mine used to do that too, this is a common problem with the MX-6's... the main culprit is usually the antenna motor itself (plastic parts inside break off). a lot of people just remove the stock antenna and install some kind of internal/hidden replacement. i just disconnected the power to the motor and i still have decent radio signal. sometimes mine would go 1/2 way down and sometimes it'd go all the way--usually if i pull it up all the way, it gets unstuck, hope it helps

I got one of those stupid stubby black rubber ones when mine went out. I missed the motorized antenna. Until a friend unscrewed it and smacked it against something and broke it. Then I had no antenna. :(

Oh no, I would hope they aren't selling new cars with these! It's nothing like the one on top of my 3. It was rubbery, and was thick at teh base. I think it was my '$10 fix' (notcool)
