I don't like Buicks. They don't play well with others.

We were on our way to a concert I was playing in, when this happened. I'm not going to get in to it much right now, but we're banged up a little bit, my wife taking the worse of it. She went to the hospital, but was released... she's in a bit of pain right now, just getting plenty of rest, and trying to get better. We're both a little shaky, but at least the kids weren't with us.

I have a line on a new H-Stock toy, a 92 BMW e36 318i... hard to beat for the price, and I probably will have a ton of extra $$$ a month, being payment free. I'll spend it on wheels and toys for autocrossing.

Still waiting to hear from my lawyer and the other guy's insurance, so we shall see.

P.S. Doesn't she look like she's frowning? Sad sad day.

I sure hope that neck brace on your wife was just the EMTs being really careful.

Still, if you have to be in a wreck, that's exactly what you want the car to look like afterwards: smashed up at the front but with the cabin unscathed. From the pictures it looks just about perfect, with the front wheels in their original positions, and the doors still aligned on the cabin. The insurance guys may still call it a total loss, but at least the P5's safety features seems to have worked as they were supposed to.

wow, sorry to hear that.....E-36 huh?....from P5 to Bimmer collector car....thats a jump! hope you and your wife are doin o.k.

Hey guys... thanks for all the replies/concern. My neck hurts a little, and my wife was pretty banged up. Did you see the windshield that was cracked where a head should normally be? Yeah... she has a couple cuts and bruises. Yesterday, her back started hurting pretty bad... we'll probably go get it looked at (had X-Rays in the ER, showed nothing broken, but we want to be thorough). Hopefully she'll start feeling better soon... I think i'm going to get my rental in about an hour or so, going to try out a Mazda 5. I was thikning about buying one of those about a year and a half ago, even test drove one with a manual. Not bad, really, but I digress.

The car took the accident in stride. All that precious coolant is now all over the road. I hate it, b/c I was due for an oil change, and I was using a new oil (Shaeffer's 10w-30), and was going to see how it looked... its supposed to be better than Mobil1, redline, and royal purple, so I was going to have it sent off to be checked out. Alas.

I really miss the car, but yeah, it'll make a nice parts car for someone. The engine had just under 70k, and it was pretty strong. And about the damage, I have a pic of the front passenger wheel (side that took the brunt of the hit), and it show the collapse all the way up to the wheel well, and pushed in a little, but it wasn't even touching the tire.

We were both wearing our seatbelts, of course, and luckily we weren't going that fast (maybe got down to about 20-25mph from 35-40 I was doing (40 speed limit)), but the other guy was coming probably at the same speed, at an angle... another second or so, and we'd've missed each other completely (then again, if he'd been paying more attention, he'd have seen me coming, but I digress).

Well, time to call the rental place, I'll see you guys in a bit.

well, I'll definately consider one, but I was just laid off last friday. About a month ago, my father in law passed away, so we're going to be moving about 40 miles away, and any place i'm going to be working is going to be a 30 mile drive minimum. I don't want to be paying for a car that i'm going to be putting that many miles on... I'd rather just have a ton of miles racked up on beater. My "beater", however, is PROBABLY going to be a 92 BMW 318i sedan/5spd. High miles, but its 2500$. I'm going to go check it out probably tomorrow. Not having a car payment would make me a happy MexicanDragon, so I'm defiantely considering that.

Oh, not wanting to leave the Mazda behind, I called 5 different rental places, and tracked down a mazda5 to rent. If you didn't know, its based on the 3 chassis, with that engine, just elongated a bit, with a bit more weight. Its slow, and this one has been wrung out hardcore, but its still a good ride til I get into something else. Anyways... til I return...

Ok... seriously... everyone should have their cars insured. Yeah... Mine was... the other guy... "recently lost his job and had let his policy lapse." We find this out almost two weeks after first contact. Yeah... Not happy.

I'm car-less as of monday (my guys will pay a rental through monday only). I'm also recently unemployed (my insurance was paid up though), and I'm getting about 1500$ less than what I owe on the car. I have GAP insurance, but still... I have no car, I've lost all the payments/downpayment (less than 4 bloody months did I have this car). And to top it all off, I won't have a rental to autocross on the 24th! (I may just use my SCCA card to rent one for one day, who knows... <g>)

But seriously... sad day #2 for me.
