another ms3 with rota subzeros

First i think its the stupid lip, i'm gonna paint that. Next i really didn't do this for looks. I did it for the performance aspect. small, lighter, wider i'm sure it couldn't get any better.
I can appreciate wanting to do something with performance in mind. It's not like you have Ronal Bears on your car. The Rota has to be a good deal lighter than the stock rim. How's the feel on the road? Can you actually feel the difference in acceleration and handling?

After seeing this setup, I am going to get 17" wheels now. IMO, Mazda made a mistake putting 18" wheels on the car. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

i just dont know. something about this car. to me the stockers still look the best! Somebody needs to make an after market wheel that looks like the stockers but weighs a few lbs less

Really nice ! Makes it look like it's ready for the track and some red calipers would make the look perfect IMHO.....the OEM stuff looks like it belongs more on a Hot Wheels.....

lmao

i don't know. to me it gives the car a nice euro look and all of the aftermarket wheels make it look Japanese. yes i know the car is japanese but i like the euro look dammit!

I never thought of it that way. I also look at the cost. It is cheaper to go to a 17x8 with a wider tire. The original setup that I was looking at was a 18x8 with a 235/40-18. With wheels, tires, and new sensors it was going to be around $1600 shipped. Going with a 17x8 and using a 235/45-17 and new sensors is going to cost a hair under $1200 shipped. Not to mention when I need new tires again, they will cost less.

I don't understand this 17" wheel degrade...I've even seen 16"s...(blarf)

I think 17" are a mistake!!! I understand and appreciate the weight savings, but this car looks wrong with small wheels. It makes it look like a Matrix with be fat donuts for tires...

I say stick to the 18" and get a lighter wheel... The RX-8 wheels are PREFECT!!!! Much lighter, wider, and better looking than stock...

For the price:

(first) RX-8 Wheels
(second) Stock MS3 Wheels

(just my 0.02 cents)

In the end it's his car so I say he should do what he likes best. You can't live your life trying to please everyone.

smaller wheels are actually a bit better when it comes to handling. 17's are said to be the optimal size for handling. many people in autox go with smaller wheels as well.

In autocross you want smaller wheels for weight reduction and small diameter for acceleration, along with ultra wide for traction.
Usually autocross wheels are ugly as sin... (lol2)

im gonna agree with you here, i just dont get why people are going to 17s for daily driven wheels. I would take the stock 18's for daily driving over just about any of the 17's. As I said earlier, for race-dedicated wheels, going smaller makes sense for the performance gains (and who cares what it looks like as long as its fast), but to take it to the streets I would want 18s

I like the RX-8 wheels. I just refuse to buy them used. Plus they cost way to much new. The only use I would have for 16's was to mount a pair of drag radials to them.

I have to pick between one of the two. I can't afford to have two sets of wheels and tires. Looks are not as important to me as performance. I won't get a dark color rim because it will make it look smaller. I plan on sticking with silver.
