Another hesitation on acceleration thread

hi guys,

i searched, and found several threads regarding hesitation/stuttering problems, but none quite matched my symptoms.

i have a 2008.5 ms3, 5k miles. CPE SRI and forge BPV (blue springs and one shim). these mods were installed when the car was brand new, back in sept 08.

so this problem just started this past week. on moderate acceleration, ie. when on boost, i get a consistent hestitation for a second or two. feels like a power loss. car shudders a couple of times, then power kicks back on. most prevalent in gears 1-3. again, only on boost. if i accelerate smoothly and slowly, i don't get the hesitation.

once the hesitation ends, car pulls hard and normally all the wayt o redline. bpv sounds the way it always has..

so...bad tank of gas? spark plugs? problem with the BPV? i did a quick visual inspection, all tubing looks ok. tomorrow i'll try removing a shim on the bpv, don't know if that'll do anything.

any advice is much appreciated

Clean the BPV. Ive read it needs to be cleaned and regreased every 6 to 8 months. Thats probably it.

Simply check all your clamps man. Don't remove the shim as it is fine I'm sure. Check the 4 clamps on the TMIC and the clamp on the Turbo Inlet (this one is ALWAYS lose). Odds are you have a clamp that needs to be tightened.

before i read the last reply, i removed both shims. problem solved. but now i'm thinking the bpv needs a regreasing as well. and perhaps then when i put the shims back in, the hesitation will still be solved...

check clamps and sevice the forge at only 5k i wouldnt think it would be the plugs the forge is also way early for the need for that and the 08.5 should put you out of the fuel pump issue just my 2 cents. after clamps and servicing of forge, if still present take in to dealer.

My hesitation issue turned out to be an O2 sensor and MAF issue. Both were replaced under warranty.

your hesitation was at cruising speed / low throttle / 2500-3000 rpm, right?
