Here's a pic:
We normally don't wrap a stainless header. It im-britles the material and decreases it's life span.
I still hesitate to wrap this product and i don't think that ceramic coating is the way to go on stainless. the stainless material tends to keep a good amount of the heat in and direct it out the end, but maybe it's not enough for what you are after.
Thought that header looked familiar. Yeah, wrapping is the s*** way to go. You're just trapping mouisture between the wrap and the header which is just going to aid rust and growth of other corrsion. For the "Sterling" finish, which is what is on this header, it actually ran closer to $180 or so with all the shipping and stuff. Jet Hot does offer other options, such has coatings that resist higher temps and they also have colors now too.FasterP5 said:I bought my header "slightly used" from "AlbinoMuntjac".
He had it coated by Jet Hot Coatings (I would have had them coat myne if I'd not been able to find a used one). I believe they charge about $160, shipped.
Look them up on the web and ask them for info and/or a quote, they'll probably send you A LOT of information on their product. As said above, it significantly increases the life of headers (both stainless and mild steel). The most important thing I saw in their literature is that the surface temperature is reduced by like 300 degrees.... also, a few minutes after shut off you can touch them with your hand !
And yes, as Tony said, wrapping (any) headers significantly reduces their lifetime.
