Another blown engine

Thanks Jamie I will I may still want your mani and heat sheild if I go back na , but I dont want to it all depends on what I need to fix and the $ flow because I'm still out of work and in school full time.
 
Have you spoken with FP or Corky to get there opinions on what killed the engine?

Thats 3 BEGI kits donw now right?
 
Unbolt the head and oilpan...
remove the rods bolts and push the pistons UP.

Thats the only way you will know. From top all my pistons and cylinders looked ok.
 
Can we compair the 3 blown motors and the parts?
i.e. all were BEGI
which ones had mp3 ECUs?
What octane were they running?
Did they have additional fuel pump?
etc...

It just seems strange that 2 out of the 3 were running average or below average psi. I am curious if there are similarities here.

How do you perform a compression test?
Was the car running okay except for the smoking?

Sucks not having a car, just got mine back on the road, but it is smoking bad. . .so given all the "bad press" I thought I ought to check my compression. Here's my Mastercard moment:

Compression gauge: $25

1/2 labor at $35/hr: $17.50

Readings: Priceless
#1 179 psi
#2 174 psi
#3 179 psi
#4 179 psi

Well I guess #2 could be better. . . ;)
I was of course doing this by myself for the first time.

Thanks for the picture igdrasil. That and "search is my friend" helped me through this.

I want to say I'll sleep better tonight, but that means I still don't know what is causing the smoke. :confused: :mad: :wtf:
 
white smoke out the tailpipe, right after I shift. . .at idle if I was just boosting. . .

I hate it because when I smoke someone I really smoke them. Leave em hacking on the vapors. Makes my car look like a POS.

How about whitish blue? It is oil. I'm not losing any coolant. I'm losing oil. It looks white mainly, but it could be just a really light shade of blue.
 
wow, thats what my exhaust looked like when i hooked it up. lets just say it had alittle bit of oil in it that needed to be burned off. i had a bit of an oil blow out when i first put on my kit heh. i wont go into any details about it, just cause its dumb as ****.

I'm sorry for the blown engine, but that is what our unit is designed to prevent.

The unit retards only the cylinders that are knocking, plus it has boost retard.

Other features include a TPS modifier, and a MAP limiter.

just wondering but are any of you guys priming the turbo with oil before you start the car with the turbo for the first time?
 
Hmm, why does this not surprise me? Sorry for the loss, take it back to stock and get rid of that thing.:D Better luck next time though.
