Angel Eye's Headlights?

::whips out check book:: how much? where do i send the check? -=) eG. I got no clue how to soder or do any of that s***. LoL.. so ill deff invest in one fo your kits. -=0.. but u already knew this -=)

Nope not offended at all. Appreciate the kind words actually. And since you have been working on these your self you can vouch for how much of a pan in the ass they are. Not to mention having all of the right tools. I mean how many people have a dremel with all the right attachements? How many people have a heat gun. How many people have a voltmeter and soldering iron? Just irritates me when people call you out for dumb things like this. I mean this is a complicated project that involves $400 each headlights. if you want to try and peice together something and makedo with what you can find at your local lowes then go ahead. I am currently waiting for my new LEDS to come in. I am hoping that these will be better than the last ones i used as they were too dull looking. I am after that bright white with a tinge of blue. Not blue but white-blue. I tried blue as well but you would be pulled over in a heartbeat if you had these in your lights. I do plan on making them so that the colors can be changed without having to re-open the headlights. This would be great for shows and such. Also working on a wire to plug into these for shows that will connect to your battery so that only the angel eyes will be on. This is no problem with LEDS because they would take forever to drain a car battery. Oh well those are just some of my ideas. thanks for all those that have been supportive and offered insight as to what they would like to see. I should have them done hopefully this weekend. if the LEDS get here. will update as I go

see I was thinking of hooking them up to a hidden toggle switch, so you can turn them on and off whenever, like at shows or when the cops come at ya! I like your idea of being able to change th bulb without taking the headlights apart. I didnt realize how much s*** you need to do this...lucky for me, I did have all the tools needed that you mentioned. Thats the only reason I attempted this, otherwise...yeah right! haha.

Mine to will have a switch. It is a black toggle switch that I am mounting in the blank beside the foglight switch with a small red led to show that they are on. They will be wired to come on with the parking lights but can be turned off via the switch. I don't want to sire them just to the switch as in giving them constant power because they would be to easily left on. That is what the extra wire harness is for that I mentioned. It would only be for shows and would eliminate the possiblity of a dead battery while still giving you simple control on a daily basis. I am also rewiring my fogs to come on with the parking lights and angel eyes. that wasy I can run with just fogs and angel eyes. Gotta get some new fogs though cause the Hella 500s I bought don't fit. Think I am going with Catz SR Hyper White. How are you planning on attaching the halo to the parking light. I looked at doing that but found it to be too difficult to hide the led placement. I will also add that I am putting eyelids on to cover up anything that I can't hide.

its funny you mentioned that because that is where I'm stuck, maybe some silicone glue could be used to mask the leds, eyebrows would probably be the best bet though, are you getting the C.F. eyebrows? I'm looking for some that arent C.F., do you know where I can find some? like a website or something?

catz makes a fog light that fits.. i got the model number at home.. so does piaa but they are booku bux.. if u interested inspending that kinda coin talk to equinox.. hes the piaa man. =)

Scootz. I am getting the CF eyelids. As far as fiberglass ones I beleive that Autoexe and Erebuni make some as well as mint blue. Or depending upon color of your car some creative use of vinyl can make you some eyelids. You could just buy a peice from a graphics and signs place and them trim them so that they cover exactly what you want them to. Hope that helps. I know for ordering any of the mint blue stuff or the autoexe, rishie from autornd is the man. hope that helps

btw thanks for the support fizzle and the info. I went on catz site and got the # for them. Probably gonna order them this week.

thanks for the info funwagon....right before i read your posted i ordered th erubuni eyebrows, they cost more than the dg ones but they cover more of the headlight. they'll be here in a week and I'll take pics after i ge them painted to match the car.

SWEET LOOK FORWARD TO THE PICS!!!btw I am doing painting my headlights black when I open them up. Forgot to mention that.

Hey, guys

A little more input into this whole thing. If you're having trouble finding the exact color your want for your LEDs, consider using an RGB led. These are quite new to the market, and still rare and expensive, but since they are RGB (red/green/blue) they can be made to be any color in the visible light spectrum...or with the right circuitry, they can change colors, or slowly "pulse" through the entire spectrum of light colors (that would be WAY ricey, but kind of cool none the less).

If anyone is interested, I can find some literature on these things.

I've done a bit of work with LED's in the past as well, and for your application I would definately recommend "white" LED's. The way they make white LED's is by taking a blue LED and then applying a phosphorescent coating to the inside of the lens that absorbs the blue light from the LED and re-emits it as white light. Therefore, LED's that are sold as "white" often have a blue tinge to them since not all of the blue light is absorbed by the coating, a small amount seeps through.

This is also why many of the white LED's that you will find are rated as much less bright than other colors. The absorbtion and re-emission isn't 100% efficient, some of the enegy is lost. Of course you can just compensate by using more LED's... This is also why white LED's are so much more expensive than other colors, the manufactuing process is much more involved.

The one downside that I've noticed to white LED's is that they are not all exactly the same color. I'm assuming this is due to the fact that the coating cannot be applied exactly the same to each LED and manufactuing inconsistencies cause different shades of "white". Of course, this was 4 or 5 years ago that I was playing with these, only a few months after they were invented and they might have fixed this problem since then.

One other suggestion. They sell LED's with the resistors built in. They're a bit more expensive, but they save you a lot of time and the packaging would take up less space. If you're concerned about "covering up" the inner workings, this might be a good idea.

Also, let me comment that LED's that are listed as red/green or red/green/blue are not infinately adjustable in their color. They can switch between colors, but you can't for example get purple out of a red/green/blue LED. Of course if you had two red/green/blue LED's next to each other and one was on red and the other was on blue, the resulting color would appear to be purple (this is how TV screens work).

Good luck with this project! I didn't know what angel eyes were before I started reading this thread, they look sweet! I'm getting all inspired to go and try to put a set of my own together...

Has anyone experimented with different colors? Say yellow? You'd get pulled over for using red, but yellow shouldn't be a problem. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen different colors used and if it looks good.

The RGB LEDs that I was talking about CAN in fact display any color. They are able to light any of the three LED colors at the same time, and with different brightness. Here's a little article about the "Rainbow" circuit I was talking about.

Could anyone with Angel eyes on there p5 or p3 post picks...possibly with them on and with them off in the day..thanks

03_mP5 , I think I am the first to do this mod, so no pics yet of them installed, check the thread by the link above and see what you think.

I don't think so... protege5lava have Hella Fog Angel Eyes.
I know he has fog angel eyes, but it's angel eyes:)
