Angel Eye's Headlights?

I was wondering if anyone on here knew how to do the "Angel Eyes" to the head lights with buying stuff from the hardware store?

I am working on this as we speak. I have everything but the rods. I had some fiber optic pieces all lined up but that fell through and so I am stuck looking for new plastic rods. I am not big on the hex shaped ones so I have been looking for round ones. And I have been trying to find fiber optics because I have seen the curtain rods change color over time and I don't want that happening in my headlights. Should have it done in a week or 2 as soon as it stops damn raining around here and I get some new rods. I will be doing a how to for the P5 but if you want a basic howto check out my thread about angel eyes. I gave a link in there to a guy that did them on a crx and did a good howto. hope that helps. if not then just wait and I'll have the how to up soon. BTW my setup calls for a total of 8 LEDS 2 per each angel eye. I have the resistors and extra wire and shrink wrap and solder and everything but the damn rods. Oh and I am doing the black headlight mod at the same time.

Well I was looking on Ebay earlier and with the sell of the lumbo doors he would through in how to do the angel eyes for free.

Will you please post pics when done.

Thanks for the input. I hope that they work out, that is going to look bad

I would caution anything like that on ebay. I am not a fan of selling how to things on ebay. I mean knowledge is knowledge and should be shared. It would be different if the person was including materials or a kit with the how to but that doesn't sound like the deal you described. Kinda like the +20 hp chip mad selling for $20+ and the parts only cost like $3 and don't even work. Just be careful when using ebay. i have been on there for along time and seen alot of good deals but also alot of scams.

I am tracking down new rods right now and once I do I will be doing them. When I do them I will firgure out the feasability of selling kits to do angel eyes on the proteges. In otherwards making the angel eyes and soldering all of the connections with the leds and all you would have to do is open you headlight and mount them and "plug them in " and you would be done. Not sure if this is possible or if each one would need to be custom and require more work. Will post everything on a seperate site when done. I promise there will be lots of pics.

Funwagon...have you tried your local hobby shop? I was thinking of messing around with this project too, and I found all kinds of acrylic rod at my hobby store...sizes from about 1/16" to 1/2" diameter. The chunks are only about 15" long, but that should be plenty long, I would think.

Are you doing a ring around the high beam, the headlight, or both?

I've been messing around with the idea of doing my headlights. I have the black headlight bezels (Canadian P5) and there really isn't much of a place to put them around the high beams (my original idea)

I am trying to figure out the wiring to disable my stupid daytime running lights and just use the fog lamps all the time. I think it would be a neat look having just the fogs on and a nice halo around my headlamps

Let me know how it turns out, Funwagon!

Angel eyes (or Demon eyes) are those "halo" rings of light you see around the headlights of late-model BMW 5-series and 7-series cars. here's some pics...you'll probably recognize them when you see them.

Funwagon- can wait to see you're angel eyes for the headlights. I'm working on some for the parking light up front right now. almost done...

Yeah man those look great. I am in the process of searching for some new LEDS. I had some blue ones but they are way too blue. Then had some white but they weren't bright enough. I am going to probably have to special order them. And I am also waiting for my DGM eyelids to come in. Really tryinh to hold off on pics because as I said in another post I am in the process of working on a kit to sell here on the forum. It would be as simple as connecting a few wires and opening your headlights. The hardest part would be opening the headlights but I plan on showing every step. In other words providing a picture how to with the kit. The angel eyes would already be formed and the leds soldered up and everything. Anyone want to suggest a fair price. They are like $300 for the BMW ones and I think that is outrageous. I was thinking more like under a $100 What do you guys think and would anyone be interested.

Im not trying to be rude FunWagon but in the earlier post you wrote that information is to be shared, and if I can go to the local hardware store to buy everything that I need for the "eyes" then why would I pay you $100 for the How To?

Just asking....???

Scootzpr5 the eyes that you have done look good.!!

So how hard is it to take apart the headlights and put them back together? It seems a little intimidating to me.

I'm a little intimidated too. You have to heat them up so the glue will separate. I've never seen it done and I dont want to **** it up. I think a heat gun would work pretty good though, that way you can control where the heat goes.i dunno. I tell ya how much of a pain it is when I get around to doing it.

im in the process of makeing up some rods for my fog lights. but the only thing i dont get is the whole watts and voltage thing. i went to radio shack to try to talk with someone about what type of resinators i need to get etc...... and no one new what i was talking about. (i know i'll get flammed for this, and probably be told to do a search) but once again what are the proper leds, resinators, and voltages that i need to get to make this thing work????

No offense taken but as you can see alot of people are clueless as where to begin this process. Not downing anyone just saying that it is a pretty big custom project. What I am talking about is providing people a kit with everything they need from the already formed rods to the leds to the wires and the wire connectors. In other words no running out to the parts store becuase you forgot to get something for the project. Along with a step by step photo how to. And if you will stop and re-read my post I did say under $100 Not $100 but I wouldn't sell the kit for free. Basically I was thinking cost of parts and a small labor fee for the molding and cutting the rods and soldering the leds to the resistors. If you aren't interested in a kit then fine. But I have spent the better part of the last month researching this and trying out all kinds of ideas. I know where to buy the stuff and what to buy. I mean if there is no interest in a kit then I won't make it but I was just trying to help out and maybe start myself a little side business in the process. Oh BTW it is not as easy as I once thought of walking into 1 hardware store and them having everything you need. I am having to order the LEDS of the internet and had to order a bunch of rods from a plastic specialty place. It is the same concept as a turbo. I mean spoolin could have just told everyone what he did and given a how to but wouldn't you rather have a kit where everything that you need is in it????????

Funwagon- dont let that s*** bother you> I think what you're doing is great...for all of us. I'm interested in one of your kits. They are for the headlights and highbeams right? See I'm just doing the parking light that is inside the headlamp assembly..the little one. It's not easy, I'll give you that. I dont even want to jump on the headlights and highs. Hey, when you get your kit done, i'd like to see it. Like I said, I'm interested.
Hope I didnt offend you by anything I said man.
