Hey guys, please excuse my noobness but would the Profile AP400 2 channel amp work with a JL 8W3 DV Sub? the amp specs say 200 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)...also how would I go about wiring this? Thanks alot

You cant wire a 4 ohm DVC in any configuration by itself to get a 4ohm load when bridged....It would be a 2ohm if parralled..I think..or an 8 ohm if wired in series.

My bad..I still thought you had a Dual 4ohm...A 2 hm would have to be wired in Series..which would result in a 4ohm load..In parrallel would result in a 1ohm load....That amp can't take a 1 ohm load..if you had a dual 4ohm..you could run the MTX Amp at 2ohms @300W
The Profile could be Run at 4ohms at 200W in bridged...but profile is a budget Amp.

Hope this helps.

I see. Thanks ForceFed! What about the MTX amp? at 4 ohms its 150 W RMS. Would that be too much for the JL sub? The sub is 125 RMS

No..its not too much...Thats 125W per VC....You would actually be underpoowered..but it would work..and MTX makes good Amps.
I would go for the MTX over the Profile by far.

So I just received the sub and one of the wires are disconnected. Can I just solder it back together or am I ******?

some more noob questions:

If I get a 2 channel amp and bridge it, will it work with the DVC Sub? Also, does anyone have any diagrams of how to bridge an amp. Thanks!

Well first you have to see if your amp is bridgeable. It will work with a dvc sub but you have to consider the ohm rating the amp is at and what ohm rating the sub is at. Are you running the sub in series or parallel? what ohms are the voice coils of the subs?

It's a 2 ohm sub, so if I wire in series, it'll run at 4 ohms. Currently looking at this amp. Says it's bridgeable and at 4 ohm its 200w RMS. What you guys think?

Profile is crap btw. With an 8 inch sub...you need control more than anything or it will sound a mess.

If your sub is a 8W3V2-D2 then it is a dual 2 Ohm voice coil, it cn be wired to 4 Ohm in series and the easiest way is go in the JL website and look at the tutorials at all the diagrams are there so nice and i would a jl audio 250/1 amp for the sub and bam is awesome sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and wait to get the good stuff, you wouldn't upgrade your turbo and have to use 87 octane cause you ran out of money.?!

Alright guys, I just received the 4 gauge wiring kit from KnuKonceptz. Now, they also gave me 16 gauge speaker wire, so my question is, can I use this 16 gauge wire to connect my amp to the subwoofer?

The 4 gauge is ridiculously thick and I know its for the amp to car conenction, but I don't think there's enough to connect the sub to the amp. Thanks for your help guys!
