Valvoline 813460 SynPower SAE 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil - 5 Quart

I just found this for $22.97 with free shipping on Amazon

This is true as long as all 0W-20 oil meets Mazda's minimum specs (which is not necessarily a given). A better way to say it is:

You should be able to use any 0W-20 that meets the manufacturers minimum specification to maintain warranty as per the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

Is there any list of the oils that meet Mazda's specs?

Since the Mazda oil is nearly unobtainium, does that leave Castrol as the only store bought option?

Any 0W-20 or 5W-20 of API SM or better or ILSAC GF-5 or better.

For example, an oil designated API SL would not be ok but API SN would be even better. GF-4 is not ok but if a GF-6 is released, that's fine (although I don't think a GF-6 specification exists at this point in time). Mazda GF-5 with moly meets both the API SN and the ILSAC GF-5 specs (currently the highest spec available). None of this means any oil meeting these specs will be equally good, just that their use can't be used to void your warranty.

Nearly unobtanium? Just order it on-line like I did. There's a couple of places that sell it cheaper than my Mazda dealer and shipping was free when I bought three oil changes worth. One of the retailers is a sponsor on this site. Mine came with OEM Mazda oil filters which are good too. I trust the Mazda GF-5 to go the full 7,500 miles although I might change it sooner if my vehicle was in severe service (depending upon how severe I judged it to be).

Does Mazda have more than one synthetic oil? Our dealer uses Mazda brand full syn for oil changes, GF5 #0000-23-0w20-LT. No where on the bottle does it say Moly. the parts guy had no idea what I was asking. Googling doesn't bring up an answer. Wondering if anyone has more info on this oil? This mazda stuff cost $6.15 for a 1L jug, so why would I go buy Mobil-1, Castrol Edge for more $$$?

As for the original post, $23 for a jug is great. But up here you may get lucky and find something on sale for $35, regular is app $51-52 per jug.

Before Mazda introduced the GF-5 0W-20 with moly they had a more typical synthetic 0W-20 with only a small amount of moly. The new oil probably superseded the old because the older version only met API SM and ILSAC GF-4 (the oil met the API rating but not the ILSAC). The newer oil always says in big letters "with moly" right on the front.

The Mazda labeled oil I was referring to definitely reads..........ILSAC GF-5.........API Service SN ........(which is the newest/highest rated as of now).
It also says ......"Made in Canada". So like everything else, maybe Mazda puts different labels on their product for us canucks. I was just trying to get more info on this oil, which seems to be a secret.

Bottle looks like this

I can't find the link now but I remember reading on bob is the oil guy that the Canada Mazda oil is manufactured by Petro-Canada and not idemitsu, like in the U.S.

Any parts department of Mazda dealers will have Idemitsu made Mazda Moly oil available with part number 0000-G5-0W20-MQ. You can always order it online from Amazon too but shipping is expensive. Like MikeM. said, the best way to get it is order the oil change kit (Mazda SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY Oil Filter, Drain Plug Washer and 5 Quarts of Mazda 0w20 Moly Oil) online for $39.32 at Med Center Mazda. Just make sure to order three for over $100 to avoid expensive shipping.

The bottle of Mazda Moly oil says: "Includes high levels of MOLYBDENUM (Moly) which reduces wear, especially at low temperatures where the anti wear agents are inactive".

Thanks for the link. It seems like a reasonable price as long as you order 3 kits.
