okay, so basically i just bought an alpine cda-9831 from ghost on this forums. i am downgrading two years in technology/design from my alpine cda-9847. as of right now, i'm not sure if the purchase was worth it? i was hoping for someone with a similiar headunit to the 9831 to give me some advice.

for example, the i-personalize stuff. i can't figure any of it out. i was wondering if it was possible for someone with the same car (proteges) and i-personalize settings to upload their mp3 settings thing. just so i could see an example.

anyway. this is a lot to ask. especially from a newbie. so if any of you could help that would be wonderful. thanks.

I love my 9831 except for a glitch where I have to toggle defeat sometimes to get sound. only occurs if the internal amp is turned on. anyone else get this?

basically my problem is not understanding any of the sound settings for i-personalize. like. the crossover settings, the time setting, and the eq. i just don't get it. i searched the forums and found an old post by 1sty i think about the basics. but i just don't get how to set it. like what should i be looking for?

do you have like a setting you can send me that i can like study/learn from?

another problem i have is the faceplate rattles a little. it's REALLY bad when the tilt is being used. any suggestions on a ghetto fix?

well it would be hard to explain all of the settings here, there are so many possible, but a thing that you can do,is to go on alpine.com,you have a section for testing many thing on the radio, settings, sound focus, equalizer waves, colors, all of them you can try on site...

another thing is that you have to go with the MENU touch button for the settings,if you press once, you have all the basics settings, and if you hold it for 3 sec,it brings you to the professionnals settings, like the sound focus, the real time equalizer, the bass and treble Qs frequencys, and many more...

tell me what type of music you listen to,and i ll try to help you set that thing the best i can....

another thing, the mx button,is like the loud function, you press on it to activate the loudness setting, then hold it to set the volume of amplification, like low,medium,high....there is so many settings on that thing, you can acheive the best sound possible, but you have to spend may hours palying with it....

thanks a lot for this help man. i listen to mostly rock. i like having a medium amount of bass but the vocals still being very legiable. anyway. i just gotta say thanks again. i owe you for your help.

do you have any subs in your car?

if youre more a rock listener,i suggest you to put the more vocal in the front by using the sound focus option, than adjust the highs and the mids as your taste, and than put the bass coming from the back, still adjusting the frequency of that bass, when you go to the real time equalizer, you can save many settings, like number 1 ,number 2,number 3,i suggest you to try to save many settings, than try them all,and when you find the best sounding one,you can modify it a little to be the best of your taste, and then save it back once done....if you want some more help, just say,it ll be a pleasure....have fun!!!

i have subs. i'm actually in my car trying to figure out the settings straight from the headunit. the sound focus stuff. i really don't undersand any of it. it tells me bass focus. and then if i hit the skip button gives me numbers. how exactly do i focus bass? i'm sorry for being such a newb. i'm also downloading the owners manual as i type this.

ok for the sound focus,it does center the sound in the car for you to hear it most,so you can set it to half front half back,or as your taste, and left and right,by doing this, you have the possibility to set the sound staging to the best sound possible for your ears, but still looks like its going from everywhere in the car,i explain...

when you are in the driver seat, you dont hear the right back speaker as well as the front left one...

so what the sound focus does,it gives you the option of putting the amount of sound and volume coming out of each speakers independently for you to have the best sound stage for you to hear,so like the left front speaker as an example, you put it at lets say 2,the right front one to 4,the left rear one to 6,and the right rear one to 10....so your going to have the impression of being in a dolby surround sound system, and will hear the best music quality possible...it lets you to put variable volume from each corners....
