Almost impossible to shift fast in the MSP!!

Damn, I tried to do a few quick 1-2 shifts in my MSP and the ****** shifter gets stock between the gears!! I don't want to really force it in and I ended up grinding it a little. How are we suppost to get good times in the 1/4 mile? Don't get me wrong, I can drive manual cars, it's just the the tranny in the MSP seems to be very rough. Any1 have any suggestions?? I looking to go to the track, but if I'm gonna keep grinding the 2 gear there, there's no point.

i beleive changin out the tranny fluid helps a bit, maybe changing out clutch?

YOu have to hit the revs in the tranny PERFECT. All th eproteges are like this. It just gets worse as you add power.
My MP3 cna be a b**** to shift.

thats true, i have a much harder time shifting wiht turbo kit

I did that and it made no improvements I also did the cart boy bushing which will help the shifter stay tighter but that just menas there is even more resistance going into gear.

Can any of you guys chirp second? I think that with the lsd in there makes it even harder to chirp.

I have never been able to and I have atleast 20 whp more then a stock MSP. PLus my car doesn't have an LSD.
Maybe I just can't shift

About the 1-2shift..You think you have it hard..Just think about my setup..i am using a 50shot..and it's damn near impossible if i shoot in 1st gear..But it is possible..Shift out of 1st sooner..don't go into the redline...I noticed.when you are up that high..you are usually losing power...You want good time in the 1/4 mile...Practice a smooth 1-2shift...and keep a slight foot on the throttle....

I know i don't have a speed..but i am running more power than most speeds..with the same shift box as the speed..Not to mention i have the kb short shifter & bushings!

I can chirp 2nd in my MSP, you just gotta hold first till about 6K and slam it into 2nd real quick and don't let off the gas. I usually never have a problem shifting, it's usually pretty smooth. Hope this helps.

I always let off of the gas. I just don't want to burn the clutch. Isn't that called powershifting??

power shifting is when you keep your foot on the gas pedal while shifting gears

my wussy DX can easily chirp 2nd...i dunno though, i think the kartboy shifter and bushings did make it easier to shift quicker than stock..but definetly..isnt.."fast"

I dont know about you guys, but I can shift my car w/o even touching the clutch all day (besides 1st) a long as I'm not getting on it really hard.

Then again I do have a CDL

not only can i chirp second, but i can burn out when shifting to second, then again i have the baldest set of front tires u all will ever see
