All Wheel Drive Mazdaspeed 3

I would be all over that. I realized how much I miss the AWD in my old WRX when I ran my MS3 at the strip last week. FWD sucks!

Well this definitely silences all the haters that said DG never did the conversion, or that it was just a show car.
I would like to see some dyno numbers to see if there is any loss/gain from the powertrain.

We werent haters. BTU at the time of SEMA it said AWD MS3, and when the car showed up at MAzda it was FWD only, there are pics floating aorund.
Dosnt mean they wernt working on it. When we all saw the car, it didnt have the Feul cell either.
Which means they couldnt get it done in time for SEAM but had everythig planned out and waiting to do the work. or they had 2 cars (that was a rumor floating around).
But either way, glad they went through and finished it!

Some Info

Total weight gain is 122 lbs.
This was definitely not an easy project.
Many parts are custom fabricated, i.e., exhaust, drive shaft.
Other parts are from various other cars.
We will be track-testing the car at Buttonwillow, and you will get to see lots of specifics regarding the build when the press comes out.
It is the same car that was at SEMA (there were definitely not 2 cars) but due to the huge amount of custom fabrication necessary, it was not complete for the show last year.
Better late than never!

people say that this setup as original equipment would have pushed the price of the ms3 too high, but....considering that mazdaspeed6's were, what, 26k or something when they were available...would it really have made the ms3 THAT much more expensive vs. what it is currently?

what mazda doesnt realize that sure, some people would have balked at that price and gotten into some other car for 22-23k, but also...you would have kept alot of customers from going the EVO or WRX route, so in the end i believe it would have been a BETTER move to make it an awd vehicle.

oh well, i guess that is why i'm here and they are there.

They should've at least made it an option. Those who didn't think it was worth it could've bought a FWD and paid the difference buying front tires. :-)
