All Stiff

this is exactly why i havent got them for my car, i dont wanna feel that for a month.
-on my post on the softer ones they sell, noone has come up and said they have installed so know one knows i guess how they are.
ill guinea them though

I dont think that using just one will hurt anything. I wish I knew they had softer ones. Now im gonna have to see how much those cost. MIght be sellin these ones and gettin the softer ones. Ill let you guys know

Isn't there a way to stop the wheel hop without all the vibration? What about a shock on the engine or something like that. Damn FWD cars! Damn them all to Hell! Except mine... ;)

our cars are th eonly one i have seen with such bad wheel hop....whats goin on with softer mounts??? they make then or not? part # also...cus i wanna order then asap

My buddy has a Sentra Spec-V that hops just as bad as our cars. I have another friend with an RSX that has no wheel hop.

Boy I'm having 2nd thoughts after reading this thread......I have the AWRs on the way. If you install only 1, you'll wear out the other one sooner. So if you install 1, I'd recommend the rear one and then just keep changing out the front one with a new stock mount whenever it wears out since the front is a lot easier to change.

Somebody mentioned a softer mount was in the works from a different company but gave no time-table when it would be ready. Plus it was going to be all 4 instead of just front and rear like AWR has.

I payed a local shop to install mine. He did it in about 20 min. He also found out that I had a few factory bolts that were stripped that we replaced today. Hell I work in a factory that builds trucks so a few stripped bolts normal.

my valve cover is missing one of its bolts, i was like wtf when i saw it when i was installing my boost gauge...sorta weird eh? sorry for the thread jack btw

The front is real easy, the rear is a pain.

The vibration with only the front is not extreme, but noticeable. You see the shift knob vibrating and the shift knob and steering wheel shake a lot during ignition.

why would u be able to just buy two if it was bad for the car?

Just because you can buy it doesn't mean it's good for the car. You can buy a boost controller, can't you? Those certainly are not good for the car.

yeah but the wheel hop stopped. I dont know about you but Im running more boost, and that wheel hop crap was getting old. If vibration in the car is the downside to wheel hop then thats something im just gonna have to deal with. Its won me a few races already too.

I only installed the front mount. Vibration is minimum. Installing the rear mount is a PITA and vibration will be extreme mainly because the mount is right against the firewall so all the vibration will come in the cabin. I thought about possible damage for just installing the front mount. Since the front mount is now stiffer than the rear mount, all the forces/stresses are being transfered to the stiffests mount (front). This also applies to structures ( I am a Civil Engneer). The rear mount will not wear faster. The front (stiffest) mount is talking most of the beating. The only thing I am worried about is something happening to the front member because of the extra stress. Only time will tell, but I am glad I replaced the front mount. The stock mount I could bend with my little finger. It is a joke!!
I don't plan on installing the rear mount bause the vibration would be unbearable for a daily driver.
BTW, stop the misinformation.

I tried both mounts too and found the vibration and resonance near idle unbearable...I put the stock ones back in.

Has anyone tried or thought of drilling a series of holes in the mounts like a cross drilled rotor? You could probably drill enough holes to cut the stiffness in half or more. It might take some trial and error, and with that rear mount begin such a PITA...I've got another idea, someone else give it shot and let me know the end result :D

I just wanted to add that if changing just one motor mount would cause excess wear on the others, would mazda have used a stiffer motor mount in the msp, I believe it is the third motor mount.
