ALL 2010 Mazda3 Stuff Goes Here

that price will take it out of its intended market.

+1, I tend to think we are going to be looking at a FWD car again, AWD vehicles greatly increase cost. ie Subaru.

However I think we can expect this new speed3 to address alot of the problems that we had with the current model, something tells me we can still expect a front diff. as well as some variation of the Ford Revo Knuckle to prevent torque steer.

I have full confidence in Mazda and Mazdaspeed, what we keep forgetting is they keep delivering cars that are proven performers.

I am liking where this is going!

I really wish people would stop bashing FWD! As we have seen in numerous examples AWD is not necessarily the answer! For example look at the shoot out with the Speed3 and the R32 from VW, very marginal difference and once again on the 2008 WRX, which was crap before Subaru did some real modifications to it.

A properly set up FWD car is just as capable on the street as is a AWD vehicle.

Hopefully Mazda will borrow the Revo knuckle technology that ford has adopted for the Focus RS

They might be capable on a summer street or straight lines, but coming from a long list of high powered FWD Honda's before I got my Mazda's.... I don't ever want to entertain that kind of power for a car I drove in rain/snow as well as hot summer days ever again.

As for the redesign... a hood scoop???!?!?!?!? TMIC maybe? no way? I've been away too long, never heard of this redesign much. I don't think you should think much of the wheels, most prototypes are driving around on wheels that aren't the final ones.

i can tell from those spy pictures that the new 3 is going to look like a ****** up version of the new mazda6 (headlights and grill) and cx-7 (the fender on the front wheels seem to stick out alot like the cx7 sort of does)

agreed. you can see the outline of the headlights and they are indeed shaped like the new 6, and the hood even seems to be humped up like the 6's.

and if you look at the new upcoming 3, you'll get an idea

Not sure if I'm digging that yet.

Some things I like about it, and some things I don't. But if it is indeed a 2.5L with 300hp/tq I have two words for the new MS3, engine swap! Instead of busting the current 2.3L & turbo in my car with bolt-ons and not really proven tuning solutions.

why to swap ??get a stroker kit

Well the Mazda3 was built on the chasis originally designed for the European Focus, and most of the parts have FoMoCo. stamped on em, and the 2.0L and 2.3L are derived from Ford's Duratec engines (specifically the 2.0L and 2.3L that the U.S. Focus used), so it's not that far off as far as comparisons go.

Mz3 & ms3 uses the C1 platform, like the euro focus and volvo s40/v50 among other cars. The north A. focus uses the older C170 platform.

And the ford duratec is derived from the mazda mzr, not the other way around. Ford dumped their zetec engine and started using the mazda design.

I suppose the cobalt SS Turbo has proven everyone wrong about FWD. Didn't that car lap the track faster than the new evo? Technology, power, and low cost are finally starting to come together in a rather wonderful package.

QFT. Like I said before hats off to chevy for upping the bar, now everyone else will have to follow suit. Dodge raised the bar back with the Neon SRT-4, then Mazda had a go with the MS3, now Chevy did the same with the SS Turbo...Who'll be next? And these three have been FWD monsters.

yea it did, but the suspension and s*** like that is really good, 2 door car, lighter, and i guess the interior is where they make up costs of upgrading the suspension etc to get good times.

EVERYONE should just trade their current MS3's in when the new one comes out, that way the market will suffer and they will have to DISCOUNT the new one!!
(freak)

You do realize the error in this thought right?

Please don't make me explain it......

dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder gives zero performance benefit, in fact a true dual exhaust would hurt performance. You need proper flow, each pulse helps to move along the next....

i'm sure it's not a 'true' dual exhaust. Probably a Y pipe or something similar to the MS6 exhaust. but you're right no need for a dual exhaust with 4 cylinder, just one fat 3" exhaust all the way back please!
