Alex's Mz2 Build Thread!

I have my back windows and hatch at 15% and front windows at 30%. No trouble seeing at all. It's been done for about a week so far and I have yet to get pulled over and have no issues with night driving nor in the rain. Plus it looks AWESOME.

That's pretty much how i'm approaching it myself. :)

We're so in sync ;)

Oh, I'm anal ( ;) ) and VERY serious about my visibility when driving. I know for sure 15% is too dark for me, but then again, that's just me.

Btw, I said 40% tint was too dark.. I just realized that that's lighter than 35% lol. Woops.. I guess 40% would be even better than 35%! Show's how much I even know about tint in the first place haha

Still darker that what I would want.. and especially the cops in my area. If you're young, and drive a lowered car, watch out.

Maybe all things considered, 40% isn't that bad, but still.. too dark. Also, my buddy's escort zx2 had such dark tint, it threw me off tint for a while haha. Looked dope/jokes, but you COULD not see at night.. so ridiculous. Couldn't see an 18 wheeler coming even if it's lights were just dead beaming at the mirrors haha

I also have a game for you guys.. guess how much my wheels in my sig cost me, all together - i.e rims, tires, paint. Winner get's a <3 from me for Valentines! Bonus <3 for guessing how much I'm gonna purchase a set of temp. 15" ASA rims, plus 205/50/15 tires!

Temp rims look like this.. gotta set up a time to meet the guy to pick them up:

No, it's not THAT ridiculously cheap haha.. I wish, but you're on the right track.

And yeah dude, for sure!

Not bad at all (thumb)

Thanks dude! They look even better in person.. I gotta clean them nice though lol.

^ Petty cool. Keeping them that color?

Thanks bruh. I'm still undecided about keeping them silver, or dipping them white.. still on the fence.

And less than that Roddy ;). All together, my old black ASA wheels (tires, rims, paint, mount, balance, install), equalled out to $190!

Not too much of an update really.. been working and weather here sucks. Had to go to my buddy, Z's, shop Boost Theory to reseal the bead on one of my tires.. would not hold air. He's got some crazy s*** going on, and I can't wait to see it all done!

Here's are some Hipstergram pics he took of my car after the work was done, in his shop:

Just ahead of that G37, is an R32 GTR with an RB30-T.. estimated power is anywhere between 600-800 hp.

Alright, since this is the only pic I have, I'm putting it up here:

If anyone has been looking at the Fog Lights thread in the Electronics sub-forum, I've been saying I'm gonna take out my fogs, crack 'em, and take out those stupid glare-guards.. well here's proof they are off the car, and partially disassembled in my house. Tomorrow is my only day-off in the week where I have the entire day to myself, so being me (and I'm sure many of you on here can relate.. though It'll be in -3 degree C up here in Canadia), I'm gonna be under the car the whole day. I'm also gonna be trying something out for gaining negative camber on the rears.. if I can do the amount of work that may be involved, in the period of time I have, since I work Sunday.

Looking forward to what you do with the foglights. I've been thinking about something like that myself. WAY more affordable than trying to pick up a UK set, etc. Speaking of lights, what temp did you put your oven on for your headlights, how long did you leave them in, what tool did you use to pry them open, etc. Care to dish some details? I'd like to remove my amber as well...

Yeah for sure.

Alright.. I'll try to remember as much as I can.

- preheat oven to 200 degrees F
- bake headlights for around 5 mins, at 200 F
- I used a flathead screw driver.. if you can, find another tool that is just as flat, but the head is a lottt wider.. if you use a flathead, be prepared to use a lot of Epoxy to fill the bigger void you made now by using it
- after I took the sidemarkers out, baked them again at 190 for around 2-3 mins to get the original glue on the headlights pliable, and sticky again so it seals better (this is with the headlights put back together)
- after that, I sealed the headlights up again with Epoxy.

Stuff to look out for.. when taking out the black headlight housing (the middle of the 3 parts of the headlights), or when putting back in, be very careful as the plastic can break.. I snapped a piece of it, but luckily, it fit in, and doesn't show at all when looking at the headlight. Also, make sure all screws, harnesses etc, are taken off before sticking the headlights in the oven. If you're gonna use a flat head to pry apart the headlight housing, the plastic back housing on the headlight will bend, and won't fit together the same, which means you have to slap on a lot of epoxy. So far, in snow, sleet, rain, ice pellets, my headlights are holding up.. no condensation in them. If you were to look at where I sealed up the headlights, sure you can tell them were taken apart, but you can't tell that they were pryed apart by a flathead lol.

With these fogs, the process will almost be exactly the same as the headlights, but they will be much easier to put in an oven.. that's for sure.. and probably a lot easier all around.
