Alex's Mz2 Build Thread!

I wanna get new fenders too, unpainted, so I can actually do the work I need to do on them properly, then paint them after. Surprisingly, fenders from the dealer, unpainted, are fairly cheap... at least up here. $125 a pop.. I was thinking it was gonna be closer to $200

That's it? Good to know.

Hmm that's not too terrible...I wonder how much a painted one would cost...or how much it would be to get a fender I bought from a separate site painted because I've found some for around $50.

Hey CRG Racer24 how did you buckle your fender exactly? speed hump?

I cut the inner lip, weakening the rigidity of the lip, so the first thing that happened to screw up my fenders was I was turning one day, the contact patch of the tire grabbed the fender, so when I turned back the other way, it grabbed and ripped the fender inward. From there, I needed the clearance for these new wheels I have, so basically it was get a baseball bat, turn up, and pull haha.

That's it? Good to know.

That's it my friend

Not exactly sure.. I think it was around $100 more from the dealershit. Where did you find fenders for $50?!

Hmm $100 isn't terrible at all. Worth it to be sure that the color is exact. carid.com it has everything!! I think the exact price was $54 and I will not say no to that.

$100 more dude.. I wish it was cheaper haha.

But I gotta check that out then

Still under $400 for a new fender isn't bad at all. Was going to cost that much just to have my fender repaired. I don't have the skill to fix the messed up one but I am capable of putting one on my own so I wouldn't have to worry about labor costs after buying the fender.

True enough man.. doing anything yourself helps out cost, and knowledge.

So guys/gals, I'm having a bit of a dilemma.. Should I buy some stuff for my car now, or wait it out another month or 2, save up a bit more, then just go buck with the parts?? My springs (my 550 lb/in rear springs ;)) came in today, but they're stuck at the post office until tomorrow due to me being at school.. If I have anytime this week/end, I'm gonna slap them on hehe.

Ooo too high.

Alright Alright, enough guys.. I'll just tell you guys.. jeezzz. Staggered setup, 8.5/9.5. That's the only info I'm giving out.. anymore, and it'll be wayyy too easy to guess! Oh.. and no, I won't be running the conventional stagger setup.. this is a FWD car, isn't it?

Dat reverse stagger. I remember seeing a setup similar on a JDM ITR years ago in a magazine of some sort. Although I doubt it was quite as different as yours.

Mmmmm. I've even seen reverse stagger on a JDM STi.. that was pretty dope to see. But yeah.. I can't wait to get my new wheels on! I think it'll look ******* crazy!

And thanks :$ (hopefully I interpreted that correctly :P)

Update!

Thanks to Pat (Pat1usmc), I bought and received my CorkSport Short Shift plate! It came very quick, and if he ever has anything else to sell, and you wanna buy it, he's great to deal with.. Mad quick shipping too; I wasn't expecting it to be here so fast.. So thanks Pat!

Also, I got some plywood for my trunk.. I reinstalled my Privacy cover, and trunk mat, but with a sub back there (still not hooked up!), it likes to fall through. I love the look of that stuff back there, with no back seats. I'll get some pics of it soon. I'm also gonna try to install my tweeters ( I ****** up, and I'll take a pic of how I did), and hopefully send my new, awesome, and very unique (to a Mazda 2), wheels to get re-finished.

It's supposed to be 17 degress C up here in Canadia, on Monday, so hopefully all this get's done then! Also, I'm gonna be doing something pretty damn unique with my suede headliner, so you guys will have to stay tuned for that!
