Haha, I can see him saying that. Although, when I was with him he was a man of few words. Then again, he had his nose dug into a pipe so I'm sure his focus was on that, not some starstruck blonde. Not too long after that did we have a actual conversation and he touched my car. Oh those were the days..
Whoa, did it just get hot in here or is it just me

The stock exhuast is grerat 21/2 onch manderal bend with 3 resinators and no real mufflers according to reipley's mufflers, By deleting one or more of the resinators = alot less backpressure plus a louder gruntier exhuast. I delelted 1 and i can feel a power increase and my exsuat sounds meaner. $43.70 per and i if i want it louder and less restriction just take off another. I talked to some at exede and he said they discovered that most of the back pressure comes from the resinators and the 2 cats so while 3 inch is better than 21/2 inch he said that irelevent its the resinators and the cats, so instead of spending $700 for 3inch cat just delete the 3 or 1 or 2 resinators and youll have a just about the same reslut according to that guy. I deleted just one and i can tell the differance plus it sounds meaner with out being to loud, it burblles now AWSOME(usa) . 43 dollars is A DEAL(shocked) (drinks) HOPE THIS THREAD WAS HELPFUL!

I dont understand how you delete it, could you describe that to me?

Are they just removing one and replacing it with straight pipe? How does this affect the car as far as CEL's or other problems that could void warranty?

Affecting the back pressure is going to (negatively I'm afraid) affect your torque. That said it shouldn't throw a CEL. I wouldn't do it though.

I dont understand half of what you posted...but what I can read does make sense. Exhaust back pressure is a killer for turbo.

I don't see how having less back pressure will make tq go down, I don't really understand how tq is created and increased in the first place. Can you elaborate on how less back pressure will effect tq in a bad way?

Less backpressure will NOT reduce tq on a turbo motor, the more free flowing the better.

you delete the resinators buy cutting them off and replacing them with straight 21/2 inch pipe, and less back pressure increases torque on a turbo car and helps the turbo spool up faster

I was under the impression that backpressure was part of what helped the turbo spool faster.

dude thats bs less back pressure makes the turbo spool faster

less back pressure increses torque on a trbo 2.3 motor , your thinking of a nonturbo 1.8 liter(bicker)

with less back presssure the compressor sipns up faster , the backpressure slows downd the compressor, no porb just given you a hard time..lol

I know when I had my tacoma supercharged the muffler shop told me not to go past 2.5 inch pipe due to loss of back pressure and decrease performance.

I think the MS3 is fine the way it is so I dont want to risk screwing things up by doing something like this.

Let us know how it goes for you after you have run it a bit.

suprcharge is diff from turbo, turbo is exhuast driven

supercharge is diff from turbo turbo is exhuast driven so less back pressure means more power and torque, supercharge is driven by the camshafts, the point is 3inch might be alitte better but for 700$, i was told almost all of the backpressur is from the resinators and the cats, so by deleteing the resinatos you have the same affect.....cheap to....

That is what I was thinking. I wouldn't say less back pressure increases torque... but more free flowing exhaust will increase spooling and decrease lag which I would assume increases performance, thus torque and hp. Someone posted here they 'feel' they lost tq when they went with an open DP. This seems to defy logic and the basic principles of science (stash).

right turbo spools faster .....more power ... more torque

Just breaking it down cause and effect style :)

I'm not a mechanic, but could you put something like a bov in your exhaust before your resonators or cats where if too much pressure occured it would release exhaust to atmosphere? A way to pass emissions while helping your turbo out when you need it. Probablly not legal but don't see how you could get caught (upyours)
