You need to be careful doing any engine modifications in AK. If it is not CARB approved, you will not pass emissions and get seasonal tags only. That means no winter driving.

Even just a CAI???? all I would like to do is CAI, Exhaust, plugs, wires, Distrib, lowering springs, and eventually rims. I am lookin at tinting next though.

You will need to be Careful with the CAI. I believe K&N makes a CARB approved CAI. Exhaust you will be OK as long as you do not mess with the CATS. Any suspension mods are cool. Tinting laws are funny up here as well. I believe the darkest you can go is 65% on the fronts, but do not quote me on this.

The Injen is C.A.R.B. approved. I have it, though I haven't gone through inspection with it in yet. I emailed Injen about it and they said it will pass, the approval number is right there on the intake.
I matched that up with the MSpeed axle-back, a little drone-ish but not too bad.
I have 35% all the way around except the front windshield. No po-po yet...

Hey Wes has anyone on the base gave you shiznit fo your tint?
I live on Elmendorf AFB and they said that they obide by state law on tint?
I just dont wanna go and get tint and have to remove it ya know? oh well i guess...............hey what did you mean about drone-ish? did you notice any difference in power with the CIA and Axle-back???

Nah, no shiznit yet bro. You're right though, they do obide by state AK law... but I guess it's not dark enough for them to care... I dunno :/ I think maybe since the car is already black, it doesn't look that drastic.
I have driven by a few troopers too with no problems.
35% isn't really all that dark, you can still see in the car close up.

The MazdaSPEED is drone-ish... what I mean is its kinda loud at high RPM's. So going like 70mph at about 3500rpm is rather loud. Doesn't make for the best road trips...
Which reminds me, I leave for your side of the frontier Saturday! I'll be down there all weekend. If you see my car, pull me over.. hahaha

Well I did the 26 Glacier Cruise on Sunday and it was pretty tight. I have never seen the Prince William Sound, if any of you guys down South haven't done it yet... GO. Here's a pic for ya...

The P5 did great on the drive BTW, but anything over 85mph feels like the car is gonna explode.

Nope didnt see ya out this way. Sounds like a great trip. the wife and i have a one nights stay at the kenai princess lodge so hope fully we might get out and do something like that while we are down that way.

oh yeah i got my first speeding ticket with my P5 on saterday (ripped) I was only going 76 in a 65...........whats the deal with that?????? I just think that the POPO had nuthin better to do (jerkit) than **** with me. I am contesting it. so we'll see what happens i guess.

Hey Mellow- I just say it sounds like it's gonna blow because the RPM's are well over 4K at that speed... with I/E it's pretty damn loud.

I was on my way out of town on the Glenn Hwy....he was sittin right at Ship Creek and what do ya know he was sittin pretty in his new unmarked chevy (I think its the impala) and "BAM" got me passin in the middle lane. Bastards
