It does seem difficult to get response from DSMConvert, although he has described many times how busy he is, especially with the new shop and the increase demand for the AFC, FTC, etc....I too would also like to purchase one the the AFC's. But is seems like there is a very limited number of them at the moment, I think the last group buy had ten units for sale (I could be wrong, just going by what I thought I read awhile ago)...but they were gone in a matter of hours probably due to the hight demand....so it probably means those of us still wanting one will have to wait.....

On the other hand, could you just purchase a split sec PSC1-001 and load the maps yourself? All you need is a pc and a specific serial cable if I recall. I'm not sure if that is the only mods to the PSC1 that DSMconvert does. But spiltsec sells the PSC1 for $265 according to their website, and a serial cable is only a few bucks. Their site has instructions on how to program the unit, it doesn't seem to hard. The hard part is the tuning of the maps to suit the vehicle, as what DSMconvert has been doing, this takes time, and can be a delicate process, since you can screw your motor up if you don't know what your doing. Thats why I would want to by one from him, to help support his business and his willingness to help tune our cars. He will resurface eventually........................I'm hoping.........

John, my post was not meant to be an earful......as you can see from my previous posts, I would rather buy an AFC from you over anyone else because I appreciate the time and energy you have devoted to developing a quality product with good results, and at a reasonable price.
My only concern is with availablity from what I have been reading on this very same board it seems very hard to get in touch with you. I mean you no disrespect by shopping around for other options....I did not realize the differences with the AFC units. All I want to do is buy and AFC for my car in a reasonable time period.......I have money ready in hand....I will send you and email tonight........I realize you are busy and have alot going on, I think all of us here on the board were just wanting some communication, that's all.

no prob, i wasn't yelling or anything, i just didnt want you to buy one and then realize you got the wrong thing. hehe thats the problem with forums its hard to tell the emotional context of a typed message! I got your email and responded so let me know if it didn't come through.

John-

You mentioned in the FTC thread that there were some potential improvements coming to the AFC. Are any of these going to be something that could be flashed to an existing unit? Basically wondering if I need to wait for the update before ordering something.

bump

I called SS, they said they have a special model just for MSP, but is it the same we get from DSMConvert? SS told me the differnece is DSMConvert's come with a map, if I order from SS directly it will not come with any map. Can someone tell me if its ture.

yeah, no maps are preloaded. You will need the R4 software and a serial cable and a laptop to load the maps yourself. I would email john and try to get on the waiting list for thenext shipment. I emailed him a week ago, and he said he got it, but no confirmation that I got on the list..... (nervous)

No, it's not the same unit, there are mods specifically for the MSP. DSMConvert has covered this in a thread. You can only order the MSP specific model through John and it comes preloaded with the supermap.

what he said. John gets your mods, and gives you the appropriate map which gets you in the ballpark tuning. If you want a tune *specifically* for your car, it's my understanding that you can email him the file from a dyno, he can make an update, and then send it back to you for loading into the unit via the serial/RS232 connection. I got the last unit from the last batch and it works pretty well (some rough idling when I first start the car cold, but one tap on the gas and it goes away not to return until it's cold again). Otherwise, it seems great and makes a big difference at wot. I have 230 miles on the unit since install.

Yep SS is just going to tell you to get ahold of me...plus you get my help with retuning a map after you dyno with the unit...that right there will run you $150+ at a tuning shop...on that note i appreciate the patience those of you have had with me getting a customed tuned map back to you...I didn't expect this big of a response so I'm a little behind with making and adjusting maps for you guys...if you haven't heard anything from me please feel free to pester me via email and I'll make sure you dont "fall off the desk". For those of you who bought the units second hand, I'm sorry but we cannot extend the free tuned map to you....looking at my list of maps i think Tom is next up to be finished...

Bump myself.

just a head's up for you guys waiting word back from John that he does get back to people via the forums. He's not on the forums as much as some of us, so he will get back to you *quicker* if you contact him at john@airflowlogistics.com. Overall, I agree this unit is the best bang for the buck.

With the mods listed in my sig got my Zeitronix WB hooked up this weekend. I am typically running 14.1-14.9 AFR when cruising and 9.x-10.x under load. Occasionally 17.x-21.0 when decelerating in gear without throttle, but this quickly returns to 14.x when I disengage the clutch. I am running the stock supermap.
