Airbag deployment

Hi guys, (and maybe gals?) I am new here... I was just wondering a few things. 1st off I got in a minor accident yesterday in my 3. I was Planning on making a right on red, which the car in front of me was starting to do. She all the sudden slammed on her breaks, and I hit the back of her.. I was going VERY slow... basically just gased it from a completed stop, so maybe 5 mph or so? Anyways, my front driver side airbag deployed, and burned the crap out if my hand and arm... Does anyone know what mph the airbag is supposed to deploy? You can email me at kisses1717@aol.com if you would like...

The airbags shouldn't deploy until you hit something at 15-20mph or so, which IMO is still too slow of a speed. I bet you were going faster than 5mph, as that would barely even dent your bumper.

Hey Kpa, thanks for replying so fast, my bumber is NOT dented at all! I know that I wasn't going faster then say 5mph or so, it wouldn't have been possible, coming from a complete stop, hitting the lady in front of me. There is no body damage at all... just some fluid leak under the car (which I had towed to be fixed, along with several THOUSAND dollar air bag!

The police on scene said that my airbag should not have deployed.

My friend...very sorry to hear that...but I'm taking mine this monday to the dealer cuz my AC is dead and I haven't checked the AIR BAG SENSOR RECALL...maybe thats the reason why your airbag went off... just my .02.

i smell a lawsuit.lol. if theres NO body damage at all and the airbag went off and injured you... oh yeah you could call sam. but it definately should not have gone off.

Thanks guys. I called my lawyer today, and left her a message. I am in the middle of a suit against Mazda as it is, and I was wondering what do to about this. Yeah, there is NO body damage at all. My arm is much better today. Thanks for those who responded.

Only the driver's airbag deployed? Not the passenger? If so it definitely sounds like a malfunction.

I did have the recall performed, one of the many times my car was in the shop.
