so is it really worth it to buy a K&N air filter becuase i have some generic one from ebay
and i was still wondering if i can use any air filter brand recharger on any brand of air filter?

I use a K&N filtercharger cleaning/oiling kit on my Injen filter. Basically any oiled cotton-based filter can be cleaned/oiled with any kit for that. A lot of the eBay filters are just paper, they can't be cleaned and re-used.

No not all. The one that came with my cold air intake (ebay one) looked like a k&n-style filter, but it was made of paper.

A very good brand -and supposibly better than K&N- is Green Filters (They make filters for WRC cars). That's what I've been using

how can you tell though

how can you tell if it is dirty, can you see like stuff stuck in it because i cant tell that it is dirty and i live on a dirt road

Well since it's a short ram I dunno how quickly they get dirty. My cai filter got dirty very quickly.. and yeah there'd be like dirt and bugs stuck on it (how bugs got in there and got stuck on the air filter I have no idea). It really doesn't look dirty in that pic if that's a recent one.

While you are under the hood check the clearance between the upper part of your intake (the part near the throttle body) and the brake master cylinder to the right of it. That style intake sometimes rubs with it and it could rub a hole in your intake (!). That would be no good :P

Hey habeansha
I wanna know how did you manage to install that intake on your car. I have a Mazda Protge 99 LX and I have recently bought and installed a Brand name cold air Intake Kit. OBX. But I had complications. I managed to install it though and it works. I wonder how did u manage do install yours.
