So me and a couple tiburon guys from Newtiburon.com had a mini meet at the best buy parking lot on the berlin turnpike. As usual there were many other modified cars there so the parking lot was packed. Then several Po Po showed up and set up a modified car sting where they got a couple cruisers and blocked all the entrances and exits and then one cruiser came into the parking lot and scared all the cars to one particular entrance where 5 cops were operating a sting where ther gave everyone trespassing tickets for 25 bucks and also looked for blatantly illegal stuff like no front plate. Overall it took us about 45 min to leave the parking lot cause they were ticketing every single damn car which took forever. Just a warning. if you see po po on the pike... RUN LIKE HELL!!! (shocked)

damn -- thats crap
all that time and energy they put into that -- waste of time and tax payer dollars ---

everytime i see a car with no front plate, i'll dial 911 ---lol

Yes that was pretty awful. I could have spent that $25 on gas or something.

Not when we first got there. Then some moron was doing burnouts, we figured we'd mind our own business, but unfortunately we were caught in the middle of everything.

how does the pike work? what night do most people go and where do I have the best chance to find lots of cars. are people friendly?

that sucks getting a ticket.......i so want to get down to the pike sometime this summer!

"So me and a couple tiburon guys"? How many people total exactly? 4 or 5 cars...that's it and they put up a stick for that?

It always comes down to someone doing a burnout/acting stupid that brings the police :(

^^^
yup. Someone does that...and it should be your cue to leave ASAP as discretely as possible.

its at its peak ( i wont say best, because alot of the idiots are out too) in the summer, obviously. Usually friday and saturday nights, never sure which is the better, ive gone both nights, but seem to have caught an off night. There are alot of nice cars, and even more crap. for the most part ive found people friendly. unless you happen to catch the one dick in the group.

can't blame the best buy

FYI guys, i work at best buy....i dont want you guys to get tickets anymore so heres what the deal is....best buy doesn't own the lot....some cranky old lady does....raymour and flanigan got pissed because in the beginning of the summer it was PACKED and kids were trying to do drifts and burnouts in their half of the lot. Someone hit one of the R&F cars and did quite a bit of damage, then everyone took off. The lady that owns the lot decided enough is enough and signed a contract with Whiteys towing and Newington PD that anyone in the lot after 10:15 (store closes at 10) would get trespassing tickets and any unattended cars would get towed. They stressed it for a couple weeks real hard to the point where I was closing one night and was there until 11:15....i walk outside and my car is on the tow truck...go figure my spicy orange was the one they decided to tow that night....luckily i got my car back and now the tow guys are supposed to check with the closing manager to make sure they dont tow employee cars.

so everything calmed down for a couple weeks as word spread about the towing and the cops agreed to lay off as well as things didnt get out of hand, but Chris (one of the NPD that I know) told me that at the first sign of recklessness aka donuts/drifting the lot would be blocked off and everyone would get tickets....

i was there that night too cuz a bunch of my friends were supposed to be meeting up with me when i got out of work...and honestly, the cops were real nice. they let me and my friends out the other entrance without any tickets....the problem is that there are a few a**holes out there who screw it up for everyone and since the cops cant prove who did and didnt do it, they'll ticket everyone....i dont know if anyone noticed, but the same night, there was a cop sitting in the parking lot next to wendy's which was packed....he didnt break it up, but as soon as someone decided to do a burnout he was there in two seconds....

so yeah, behave yourself, stay away from the idiots and leave at the first sign of trouble in a reasonable fashion (ie dont fly out of the parking lot) and you should be fine from now on

lol sorry for the long post, just thought i'd give ya'll a headsup

I saw your spicy orange there and decided to go say hi but you were no where to be found. I figured it was someone on the boards. Some guy drove off in it though...

lol yeah, it was probably mine...i let my bf drive it cuz the police were only letting out people with bestbuy shirts on without tickets at first and since my bf works there too and we drove in together i jumped in my friends truck so that he could get out without problems

Yay the we found the spicy MSP driver!!! I wanted to make friends but yea after I saw you at TBell...i'm kind of a wimp haha. and your car has a turbo and mine is a lowly 2.0 (even tho it's still fab :) )
