Man, what a day yesterday...went to paint my cals...

Painted the drivers side...both of them.

Put the rim back on front driver.

Back was still jacked up with stock mp3 jack.

Started jacking up front passenger tire.

Car SHIFTED OVER while I was jacking...the stock jack on the drivers side, FELL OUT (chipping the paint on my sideskirt in the process) and the whole car SLOWLY fell down onto the break sheild and I guess my frame member (that's what I was told it was called)?

So the break dust sheild thing got bent (but I bent it back), and I have to get touch up paint for the sideskirt...somewhere. The "frame member" looks ok...and I had a few people look @ it, but I'm still worried. MY stock jack is bent to crap, and to make matters worse, I didn't finish my cals...so now the paint I had left over is all dried up. BASTARDS.

So because of this mistake, I need...

-an OEM jack
-a new $50 can of yellow G2 caliper paint (unless someone here has leftover they can send me)
-touch up paint for my skirt

:( :(

:( :(

ouch. I gotta paint mine soon, and I DON't want that to happen.

What color G2 did u use? i got yellow. Look good?

As for the jack, go test drive another Mazda somewhere and "borrow" the jack in it. :)

Just kidding.

Just for future reference, never use the factory jack for anything but an emergency. I have 2 2-ton floor jacks I use for stuff like that. I have only once ever used a factory car jack, and that was after getting a flat running over nails. They are all weak and flimsy, and not even remotely stable.
Sorry you had to learn the hard way. That really sucks..

damn man, truely a b****!, i had the same s*** happen to my 1980 toyota celica/supra...it was funny then though, cause it was a piece of s***, and i laughed after it went crashing down to the ground. at least your frame didn't bend, you said it fell slowly right...could be worse.

i had no problems with the oem jak
it jacked up one whole side 2 wheels at the same time.
i put it in the front, the part that is doubled up.
the 2 1/2 ton deal is the way to go.

Our OEM jacks suck ass if I might add..

That piece of s*** broke on me already, I was trying to use it to jack up my car for whatever reason and I noticed it was REALLY hard to turn the crank, then the metal piece containing the ball bearings snapped and all the tiny balls fell out.

So I quickly grabbed my Girl's jack out of her Jetta (OMG that thing rocks, lol .... the jack, not the car) and releived the dead jack and dumped it into the garbage.

Needless to say, I drove my happy ass over to my local Pep Boys and bought a 2 ton floor jack which also came with two jack stands all for under $30!!

People, if you don't own one already GO BUY ONE!! It's worth the $28.99 or whatever, it makes life so much easier... trust me.

Yeah, Pep boys has 2 ton jacks for $20, i'll probably hit that up. I had a few people look at my car so far, and they said that besides the bent brake dust sheild (that I bent back in shape) that there was no damage. The dealer ordered me a new jack and a some touch up paint for the little chip in my bottom sideskirt.

Hey, if you want, I'll sell you my leftover caliper paint for a discount...it will be 2 calipers old! There's enough in a can to paint 3-4 cars I'd say. LMK if you're interested.

What is a matter with you people. 50 dollars for friggin' paint that is a rip. Why don't you guys drive yourselves to the pepboys, while you're there buy the jack and with the spare change you can buy some high temp engine paint. Painted calipers cost me a whole two dollars and eightynine cents. And I must say they look as good as any 50 dollar can of paint

Take A Look

Thanks for the offer, but I got the G2 stuff sitting on the floor beside me. Just waiting for a good day, and I'm putting it on.

Is there that much paint in there? I was wondering about that. I want a least 2 coats on each caliper. I was also thinking about painting the inner wheel as well, but I'm not sure about that yet.

You must of mixed 1/2 the paint with 1/2 the reactor did you? I think that's what I'm going to do, just to save some. Hate to throw away a lot.

And to the guy with the 2$ caliper paint. I hope it works out for you. Personally, I was scared to death that some cheap paint would peel ( which would look REALLY cheap), or worse, run when washed or in the rain and end up staining the Racing Harts.

I wanted to be 100% sure everything would be ok. Nothing but the best for my baby!

I noticed today after putting the Racing Harts back on the car that not only the calipers need paint but the other parts of the brake rotor. Mine have surface rust and look like hell. I think that if I painted them yellow or red or whatever the over-all look would be way too ricey. I have no problem with the hi-temp paint. I have painted many engines, headers and supension parts with VHT paint in the past.

So my thought is this: Paint the calipers RED (like Brembos) and paint the rotors black or silver.

Bondo: Sorry to hear about the car dude.

Anyhow, I think that's what I'm going to do. Painting them all the way around.....yeah, might be too ricey. Swimmer had it done to his, but I only seen one pic of it, and it's hard to tell. So, just the calipers is all I'm doing.
