Aghhh Car Dent And Scrape!!!

NOOO!!! So I went to this party in Downtown LA, got out, and there's this big ass scrape on the right side of my baby. The span was about a foot and a half long, across both doors. The back door suffered from a long dent, while the front door's paint was completely scraped off. The metal is now visible. WHAT SHOULD I DO??? I'll take pictures tomorrow, cause I have some people over right now...but...this just completely ruined my night. My friend said I should get people to fix the dent in the car, and then order touch up paint from Mazda to fill in the scrape..... ugh....I hate LA.

Never take a car you care about to a place where there will be drinking and people doing stupid s***.

Very True. I never drive my friends anymore and when I go to the clubs I park far away in like a commercial shopping center and walk.

Sorry to hear about the scratch. For the dent try the CO2 / hairdryer method. It worked for one of my dents. Girls used to wear rings and for some reason they ended up scratching around my doors. Some touch up polish fixed it up very nicey.

Here's the pictures of the scratch&dent. What's the CO2 / hairdryer method? And do you think it'll work on this scratch?

It probably was. I just wish I caught the guy. Next time I'm gonna store grenades in my car for ANYONE who dings it.

That looks like the sort of damage where you either do your best to cover it up or just leave it as is. Cause if you went out of your pocket to get that fixed, you would probably end up paying over $1,000 cause they would most likely have to pop out the denting, wet sand both door panels, and then re-paint the area, and then re-clear not just the touched up places but the entire door in order to get consistency.

I got hit and run on my rear bumper but in order to get it fixed it would be $7-800 out of my own pocket since insurance wouldn't be worth it. I let it be and now I'm pretty much over it and don't even think about it.

Cant really tell from the pics the exact depth of the dent but you should try this method. Get a Can of CO2 spray like you can find at office max or something. Set a hair dryer to high heat and wave it back and forth over the dent. Dont hold it over 1 spot too close for too long. Just move it around like a couple inches from the dent to heat it up. Then turn the CO2 can upside down and spray the liquid CO2 (very cold) all over the dent. Let it sit until the frost melts off. Hopefully the dent will pop outward. I had 2 door dings and this worked really well for one of them and didn't do much for the other. Its very cheap / easy so its always worth a shot. Check youtube, there are a few videos on it.

Do you guys think the CO2/Hairdryer method could pop out the dent in the back door?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see coyfish's post. Yeah I'll give it a try.

The Hairdryer heat method only works on plastic, for example, your bumper covers. I won't work for that. Put in an insuance claim, both doors need to be refinished. They'll be able to keep the color in the doors without having to blend into the fender or quarter panel. In order to do it correctly, everything on your door needs to come off (door handle, belt moulding, mirror etc) or it'll peel in a few years.

sorry to hear about the bad news and best of luck to you. If it makes you feel any better, Mine was keyed this past summer, I think I had a thread on here about it.

Alright, well it sucks that every time I look at my car, I always fall into the temptation to go look at the dent...then I get pissed. I need to fix this. Does anyone know any good body shops in the SoCal area (around Santa Monica, LA area) that are pretty good? I'm willing to drive within an hour and a half for a good body shop.

Most insurance companies have shops they recommend where the work will be guaranteed...so if you get it back and you dont like it, they'll take care of it. It's not a difficult repair.

Good luck

Could have been worse....

I got a scratch and dent on mine, cost about $650 to have the dents pulled and the door and pannel all repainted

Good luck getting it fixed

Um I would get a PDR guy to remove the dent, and touch it up it shouldnt even be visible on a white car :D

You gotta find a bodyshop or someone that will make touch up paint for you though, cuz mazda touch up is as good as NO TOUCH UP lol
