I've gone through two sets of 205-45-17's and am wondering about changing the size up.

Do any of you have 205-40-17's? or 215-40-17? I'm jsut wondering if the 40's look good on our cars. They look rad on the P5's.

215/40/17's look much better and fills the gap b/w the fender and the tire better..

if your looking to get tires contact me ... ive got some amazing prices on tires and wheels...

visit my thread in my sig...

ps... if you have more questions feel free to ask .. i can help you out in any way i can...

Dude those are such rad tires- so aggressive looking!!! But I have to go cheaper- probably Kumo's.

mazdamp3_18 you have a pm

i'm probably getting the kumho's this week.....i can't afford the extra 200 for the Yokohama's.....i'm in the same boat. Wouldn't mind knowing about the sizes though

i just ordered yokahama prada spec-2's for my mp3...they should be here friday. if i would have known i could have went with 215/40/17's

Umm, how? (uhm) If the 40 is the aspect ratio to the width, 215mm*.40 = 86mm, 205mm*.45 = 92.25mm sidewalls. I would expect more wheel gap with 215/40/17 over the stock 205/45/17. Also, 215/45/17 would be a closer match, but would probably rub with my 2" drop. But hey, you most likely know more about this than I, and I need tires soon and would prefer 215s, but can't do the 215/45/17 with my 2" drop. So enlighten me before I buy :)

P.S. I am looking for AVS ES100s. So far I see $97 a tire + $35 shipping for stock size. Can yo do better?

i was comparing the 205/40 to the 215/40 sizes... not comparing to the stock 205/45/17...

and topher i am truly sorry you have lowered the quality of your car by running parada's on it..
i would never put that kind of tire on any of my cars ever... poor quality poor handling.. .
but if you go for only the show look then go for it..

i would never reccomend paradas to anyone i knew..
in my years with tires i have never sold one of my customers parada's .. when i explain it to them they realize what their doing and get something different..

Explain the tire numbers to me please.

I now know that the second number of tire is the height of the sidewall (I think).

The last number is the rim size.

What is the first number.....width of tire?

My P5 have 195/55/16.

First is the width of the tire in millimeters. Second is the height, but it is an aspect ratio or percentage. So 40 is 40% of the width, 45 is 45% etc. Last is rim size.
