Aftermarket HID

Anyone have a good brand/suggestion for aftermarket HID's?

The prices vary so much, and its hard to get an indication of what is good/bad.

I've seen anywhere from 300 on ebay, etc down to 129.95 from apexcone.

If the 129.95 from apexcone is good, I'd probably take that, as its the cheapest I've seen. But, I don't want to get something that is going to die in a year.

I bought some apexcone 6000k... I was really debating between 5000 and 6000k. I wanted the slight hint of color, and from most pictures I saw the 5000k was mostly pure white.

Can anyone tell me how hard was it to install? Looked on their website to see if they had any instructions but could not find any. I assume this will void the warranty on the car as well?

I just recently installed the MTEC HID 6000K Conversioin Kit.
Installation was hardly hard for me(but it could be somewhat difficult for someone who is not familiar with working on cars).

I do not do half-ass install so I took out the bumper, and head lamps
Then I mounted the ballasts under the head lamps.(Had to drill small mounting holes for screws) Then I zip tied and used some tape for the wires.

It looks factory, and one cannot really tell whether I have HID installed because the ballast is completely hidden now.

As for the fitment of the HID bulbs, it was a perfect fit with a supplied adapter. I did not need to readjust the lights or anything because the light pattern and dispersion stayed the same.(which implies perfect fitment)

Hope this helped.

^HIBUHIBU has the right idea with the bulb adapters. I had to modify the H7 HID bulbs that I used on the CX-7 to get them to work. Came out great but it was a little more work than adapters. I just use the $85 Ebay HID kits. I've used over 10 sets of them now and only had a problem with 1 of them. The set in my BMW fog lights have been in there for about 2 years now, no problems. I'm working on a DIY to put in the "how to" section. Will post in here when it's done.
