After 2 years of ownership I just discovered my trip computer... FML

This was with a regular CD... I fear change and still prefer them to them confounded MP3/ipod things you kids use to play jungle music these days. Back in 2000 ish someone invented the technology to put album and track names on CDs. Certain CD players support it. It never caught on much as only about 1 in 10 CDs uses this technology. I have a super sweet soney discman from back in the day that had that built into the little clip on controller it came with.

So anyhow its the knob on the right that controls the music display? I will have to check that out.

ALL Sony/BMG artists support it, as sony was the main creators behind Cd Text.

You wont find too many artists outside of those labels that really pushed it much

If I make a "regular" CD (80-minute) out of MP3's, the track info will be encoded.

If I buy a brand new CD and copy it to play in the car, Nero downloads the CD info and encodes it into the copy, so the copy will show the track info, but the original will not.

Also, to get the display to work, you have to press the left knob a few times while the CD is playing, and stop when you see "FILE TITLE" on the screen. This will work for true music CD's... for MP3 discs you push the button until you see "SONG TITLE" if that's what you want to see.

Has anyone noticed this? The other day I was driving and the had a CD by Chevelle playing and suddenly I noticed it was displaying the name of the album as well as the song that was playing. I noticed it for a few other CDs as well. Now it seems to have stopped again. Im not sure if I changed a setting or something but it was cool. I wish it would do it again.

CD Text, but other than that, IDK.

i just went out and did mine, this makes me happy i was pissed when i read about the trip settings in my manual and i couldnt get mine to work

op kudos and thanks 1+
