Radio Shack has some terminals (pins) and plugs also. Google: AMP Connectors
Thanks Eric.
I love doing nice wiring harnesses ( i am graduating electrical enginner, finally)
but I just worry about giving mazda ideas to annoy me.

Your set-up is clean and definitively the way to go. Solder creates a bit of noise in the wiring harnesses and it is not ideal and those clamps might not give the best connection.

quality butt splices and connectors are the way to go.

if one day i have a bit of time i will see how is the setup of the ECU.
I never actually removed the carpet.
thanks for the info again.

Peter, looks like the FMIC map or map 5 would be best. Map 5 looks a little risky cuz of the 14 psi but if you have a wideband you can monitor. IMO at 10 psi with those 440's you would be running way too rich. You could always go get tuned at DB from Shane. That would be your best bet.

Is timing an issue with the lack of being able to control it with this AFC? My internals will be forged in a couple months and I will be running 440's as well with a wideband A/F gauge for monitoring. I'm gonna start with map 5. Is it safe not touching the timing at that high psi level? I don't wanna risk it even with built internals. Obviously, DSM convert will say it's safe which I can take his word for it but I want to hear from members with experience using this map. Please guys help Peter and me out. Thanks.

Help!!! ASAP

Hi guys... I'm pretty pissed about now. I took everything apart, and was in the middle of the tapping of the wires. When it got to the #12 in the directions, I noticed that there wasn't a PSC1 Pink wire, and no Pink/Blue wire! After further investigating, it looks like I don't have the right PSC1 controller. I have the PSC1-001 instead of the PSC1-020. The two wires I have left are the yellow, and yellow/grey or something.

My question is... will this work on the MSP? Or is it for another car? It's looking though I got jipped by the guy who sold it to me.

Yours has the pink and pink/blue wires? I just read this from the Airflowlogistics web page:

This file describes in general the capabilities of the PSC1(AFC) including methods of installation, and Theory of Operation. Read this to gain a better understanding of how your AFC actually works. It is important to note that the AFC is actually a PSC-020, which is spefically designed to work with the voltages of the mazdaspeed, so the AFC will most likly not work in any other vehichle.

So, it looks like this PSC1-001 doesn't have the right voltages? Damn.

I just bought one myself. You had better double-check, cuz mine has those wires.....

Onrails.... As you know I'm the one who sold it to you. Before you go saying you got "jipped" by the guy who sold it to you, I suggest you contact that "guy" and find out what's up. Story: I bought it listed as a dsm afc from a fellow forum member here. It was new never installed, I never installed it myself. Now that you've mentioned the discrepency, I'm not a hundred percent sure I got the right deal.... Enough said. I'm not out to "jip" people. We are a ******* family here. Contact DSMconvert and verify w/ him. If you got the wrong s*** and it won't work and you're not feeling fuzzy, then contact me and we'll get it resolved. Unlike most americans these days, my word and integrity is worth more than a $240 piggyback. Keep me posted on what's up. Thanks, Patrick

I bought mine from a forum member too. Just curious now if there are a bunch of AFC's on this board that are not for the the MSP? Mine seems to have the right wiring, unlike ON_RAILS unit. Better to air this out now....

DSMConvert?....

Hum, I just had a deal I couldn't miss.. I traded my CustomMSP SMIC for a iON FMIC.

Ok, so is there any update on the FMIC map or is it still topped to 10psi? What problems did occur to users with that map?

Any problems running the supermap on a fmic until the afc can be reprogrammed?

That was a wrong thing to say on the thread, shoulda just kept it on the PM, I apologize. Until I get a response from DSM, I cannot really tell if this thing will work with our application. I'm assuming, since you never installed this on your car, you couldn't have known that is was different. I'm wondering if the guy that sold it to you knew about it.

Anyway, it could be as simple as reprograming it using the R4 software, knowing what wires to tap based on the PSC1-001. Or maybe I can send it to DSM and have him do it for me.

Either way, I'll keep you updated.

Can you find the thread of the original purchase from the other guy?

Dave

OK guys just threw up a huge thread in regards to this problem. I've had a few isolated incidents of this happening before and hoped it wasn't a trend. Pharmacy, thank you for coming forward, as I mentioned at the bottom of my new scam thread a lot of the times the seller doesn't even know that they were scammed to start with, so everyone please remain civil as these two have until the details are worked out. rails based on your description I'm confident it is NOT one of ours, however I can not give a 100% verdict without seeing the wiring, so if pharmacy/you need to be 100% positive before refunding the transaction send me a pic and I will confirm which is the case...Those that have the wrong units DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL THEM. these units could be any kind of setup, whether it be maf, map, hotwire, etc there is no telling what setup they were actually designed for. Running these units is almost a guaranteed way to pop your motor.

Battery on the camera is charging... when it's done, I'll post the pics.

Here are the pics of the unit I bought. John, could you verify if the unit is programmed/sold by Airflowlogistics?

Thanks,
Dave

nope that is NOT one of our units...wire colors are completely wrong, msp install sheet isn't included, and the box does not have "Airflow Logistics" stamped on it.

It looks I got one the original DSM AFC units....sux that people are trying to scam us here,or just sell the wrong part, with counterfeit ones for the MSP.
